A frustrating experience. My partner & I made the mistake of arriving with a Groupon voucher my mum had given me as a bday present, on a quiet weekday night so we didn't think to book ahead. It transpired though, despite there being plenty of space for us, that the restaurant wouldn't honour the voucher deal unless we'd booked ahead, and that the only other time we could visit before it expired was a weekday afternoon.
Disappointed by this news, but hoping to compromise as we live 12 miles away, we politely asked if we could just have a substitute dish each that was *less* than the value of the voucher deal. This was flatly refused, because apparently another customer had asked that and an argument over pricing ensued. Despite our promise we would quibble nothing due to our circumstance we were still pretty much told to take a hike. No grasp of customer service or empathy whatsoever.
So we had to come back two afternoons later, when the service was suddenly all smiles again. The sushi meal was ok, however the rice on which the cold fish was laid was still slightly warm when I'm sure it should be chilled, and the fish wasn't properly chilled but as if it had been sitting out for a while. The hot chicken & prawn skewers were nice, I'll give them that.
The final annoyance though was that a non-discretionary service charge had been added to the bill - we had to pay it no matter how we'd been treated. Added to that, our previous waitress didn't have a strong grasp of English, so a simple question of "are your juices freshly made?" was met with a blank face despite repeated rephrasings. So it's an insult to be forced to pay a service charge that isn't wholly deserved here.
All in all, I would avoid this badly run joint, and that's from a very fair reviewer.
