“Authentic food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2014

Pros: From China myself, I do think they produce the most authentic Chinese food in Cambridge. I have been visiting them for about 3-4 years now, seven days have become my de facto place to go for a hearty Chinese meal.
Cons: food quality became inconsistent for about a year now. I start to wonder whether they have got a trainee chef......

“Fantastically delicious authentic Chinese food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2014

My partner and I go back to this place time and time again and are always disappointed by other Chinese restaurants. The menu has many bizarre sounding options which always turn out to be delicious and our favourite is the chilli chicken dish which is not only beautifully presented but wows the taste buds, particularly the sichuan peppers which make your mouth go all tingly! The service has improved significantly over the last year or so - before sometimes the wrong food would arrive but this has not happened for a long time and all of the staff provide efficient service. We have also never been shortchanged with the bill. I'd recommend this restaurant to everyone who isn't too fussy about food and is willing to try some dishes they haven't had before.

“Very good Chinese food; well worth a visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2014

This restaurant does an interesting and authentic range of northern Chinese food. Everything we had was very tasty, and we especially enjoyed sampling Chairman Mau pork, fish fillets in hot chilli oil, and the chicken kung pao. There's also a wide array of exotic dishes for the more adventurous: chicken feet, beef tendon, duck tongue and the like. Although the service was rather lacklustre, this was more than compensated by the quality and value of the food. We were well fed and watered for around £25 a head.

“the chinese place to choose if you're vegetarian”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2014

I've been here a number of times, for lunch and dinner. It's authentic chinese, so some of the dishes may be a little surprising to western palettes used to "chinese" food.

But, the trick for vegetarians is that they serve a full banquet feast that they'll make vegetarian. And serve to just one! You don't need a bunch of people to agree to eat vegetarian. That alone makes me more interested in eating here for dinner than lunch.

And actually quite reasonable. Last time I was there I had the banquet feast, plenty of beer, and walked out for under 25 quid...

“Surprisingly good for vegetarians”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2014

This is far from a vegetarian restaurant, but the few dishes we had were great.

We were the only vegetarians in our group of 12. Everyone else exulted over the meaty and fishy food. (They especially liked the fish poached in oil.) We expected to get some generic vegetable dish, but were very pleasantly surprised by what we were served. The tofu soup was an interesting mix of subtle flavors. There was a delicious chewy tofu dish. The string bean plate was great also.

Our service was fine.
