I had a lunch meeting with two other colleagues on a Saturday. We went for three fixed price menus plus some extras like wine and cheeses. We really loved the food, the flavours combinations in the pork based starter was awesome, with lovely black pudding and ice cream. Although we were delighted by the food, the high quality of the bread coming with it, and by the cheese platter, we were disappointed by the value for money of the wine we had. We went for two carafes of Chardonnay, for a total of 40£ per 1liter . The Chardonnay quality was below average , and for the same money we could have had 750ml of a very good quality Sauvignon Blanc or Malbec, for instance.
The other negative point about our first visit to this recently 1 Michelin star awarded restaurant was the service provided by the waitress. She was very cold and looked like she was disappointed by us, so we couldn't leave the place with a pleasant image of it in mind.
I'm quite in doubt whether to go back to Alimentum. I'm quite used to Michelin star awarded restaurant and I've always experienced an excellent service quality and had gorgeous wines, often suggested by the local metre - which was obviously absent in Alimentum.
