I would love to write a review about our actual stay at Menzies Cambridge, however they did not honour the booking we made 6 months ago instead they told us they had suddenly realised they 'had suffered an over booking' and offered to rehouse us in the Travel Inn at Peterborough a 53 minute drive from Cambridge. The manager offered to pay for one round trip from Peterborough to Cambridge via a minibus.
The spectacularly unhelpful and I must say incompetent hotel manager who allowed himself to suffer so, stated that this was the only accommodation locally that he could find as we were a party of 17. After just two telephone calls we managed to find a hotel 20 minutes from Cambridge Town Centre (the Rutland Arms-brilliant see my review).
After numerous calls to the head office, a helpful Managing Director and very helpful secretaries did agree to pay the upgraded hotel costs and the MD stated that their had been errors with their booking system and that he was sorry it had only been noticed two weeks before our stay and five and a half months after our booking.
As you can see from my other reviews I have never been damning of a hotel before and always try to find a positive, however the complete lack of professionalism, courtesy and customer care displayed but the Manager of the Cambridge Menzies leads me to say please be careful when booking here.
