“Great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2012

Booked this hotel with a group of friends to celebrate a birthday. we picked it as it had a goiod write up and the location was good. The staff at reception were lovely, very helpful. we got there before our room was ready but they let us leave our stuff so we could go out and explore. we had requested a quiet room, having read other views on tripadvisor, think this was worthwhile as our friends had a room overlooking the open atrium reception which would be noiser. After our meal and cocktails to be honest we wouldn't have heard a thing! Beds were comfy, bathroom clean - not luxurious but fine. We had breakfast included and the offer was good - fruit, pastries, meat and cheese as well as cooked. Would definately stay here again as the location was good, plenty to do near by. Would recommend dinner at Jaimes, cocktails at La Raza.

Room Tip: ask for a quiet room away from the reception atrium

An excellent hotel where the Reception Staff bent over backwards to make our stay hassle-free and welcoming. We were in Cambridge for 2 nights in order to visit our eldest daughter, who lives and works in Bermuda, whilst she underwent an operation in the Spire Lea Hospital. They allowed her to check in very early after a long flight from Bermuda and went out of their way to make the visit truly memorable. Additionally they inquired after our daughter's progress in hospital at every opportunity - truly the sign of very well trained and caring Staff who pay attention to the comments of their patrons.
I would recommend this hotel purely on the high calibre of their Reception Staff and the friendliness displayed by all of the Staff that we came in contact with.

Dear Shipwright1 - Thank you for posting your feedback. Your comments on our team, especially the Reception staff, are appreciated - thank you. It is always a worrying time when a family member is having surgery and we wish your daughter a speedy recovery. With thanks again for your time and feedback. Kind regards Angela Chapman

Couldn't ask for a better location. The beds were the comfiest I've ever found in a hotel and it was also very quiet. Staff were efficient and friendly. Room was clean and tidy as was the rest of the hotel. Didn't have breakfast in the hotel as it wasn't included in the price and although we could have paid extra and had breakfast in the hotel there are plenty of cafes and pubs nearby offering breakfast at cheaper prices.
We asked if we could check out early on the Sunday but we didn't want to traipse round Cambridge with our suitcases. A quick word with a member of staff and we were able to leave our suitcases with the concierge downstairs while we fitted in some more shopping.
If you want to say here it's worth checking the hotel chain's website as we found the best deals there.
Would love to stay again.

I had an overnight stay with my husband on 12th May with family celebrating a 60th birthday. The valet car service was a first experience for me and was fantastic. Nicholas our concierge was so helpful and friendly and took care of us as we checked in. The reception staff were very friendly too and made us feel so welcome. Our bags were taken to our room which was on the 3rd floor room no.338. Our room was very spacious, clean and had everything we needed, lots of fresh towels, ironing board, bath robes and mini bar etc. The bar staff were very efficient and looked after us as we gathered for the birthday celebration. Breakfast was appetising with lots of choices from the hot and cold counters. All staff were helpful and friendly. We managed to get a late checkout and our luggage was collected from our room. Our car took no more than 2 minutes to arrive at the hotel and was loaded for us by the concierge. This hotel is amazing and I strongly recommend it for your stay in Cambridge. If I had to make a suggestion it would only be to provide free wi fi in the rooms and not just in the lounge area. Thank you to all the staff for making our stay so wonderful. A special big thank you to Nicholas for greeting us on arrival and making us feel so welcome.

This hotel is centrally located in Cambridge. We had a room with 2 double beds and were very comfortable. I would recommend the hotel as it provided a good level of comfort for the price. I booked the room via the Internet and service was very efficient, although no breakfast included in the price.

Staying at the Plaza at Cambridge has been a very good experience. The hotel is central, rooms are spacious and comfortable. The windows of most rooms face the inner courtyard which means that the views are not great but the noise level is low. We were made welcome with free spring water and snack. The hotel staff was attentive and helpful in every way, the restaurant food well cooked and presented. We can warmly recommend this pleasant hotel for a stay in central Cambridge.

For a 4 star hotel this is poor. Rooms are tired, missing grout, lack of towels, very poor TV, uncomfortable bed. Parking expensive and given cost of room stay is very poor value for money. Saving grace is the breakfast which is excellent. Stayed here a few times because of its central location but will now look elsewhere. Bar unable to serve a hot drink for us. They did give us a discount when we raised issues but not all problems resolved.
