The number of Jags, Range Rovers and (occasionally) Bentleys in the car park prepares you for the Gog Magog Hills Farm Shop Cafe. It's the wood-burning stove set; Hunters wellies, gun dogs, organic veg... and I love it.
Given what you'd expect from a Farm Shop cafe, the food and drinks are not overpriced. The danger is spending £50 on cheeses, fudge and parts of a sheep afterwards. The cakes never fail to disappoint (the yoghurt coated flapjack is to *die* for, darling) and the coffee rivals the best coffee houses in Cambridge. They know what they're doing.
Add to this the excellent staff. Always smiling, always humouring me. Free glasses of water, help yourself. Tables cleared quickly. Would I like to sample the food in the Delicatessen? Would I ever! The friendly attitude continues on social media and they always respond to my questions and comments which is kind and warms me to the business.
The Gog Magog Hills Farm Shop and Cafe are, quite simply, doing it right. Even though I don't have a Chelsea Tractor or a Spaniel, I am made to feel perfectly at home regardless.
