“Tasty food, friendly atmosphere and excellent service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2012

Decided to try The Peacock after reading review on Tripadvisor and we were pleasantly surprised. The Peacock is a pub restaurant, with a welcoming friendly atmosphere. There is a great deal of choice on the menu, our group had starters and mains which were very tasty and piping hot, looking at other tables having puddings these looked very good - but we were too full! The service was excellent and made for a very nice evening. We would have given an excellent rating but, being a bit picky, it was not very warm in the pub and the seats were uncomfortably hard - but don't let this put anyone off giving The Peacock a try for good wholesome well cooked food.

“Pleasant food, nice atmosphere and attentive, friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2012

We have eaten at this pub in the evenings in the past and found the food to be delicious. It is always busy so best to book. Today (Sunday) we popped in for lunch at 12.10 and there was only one table not reserved. I had chilli con carne, my partner had the roast lamb. Both meals were flavoursome but nothing to knock our socks off! Sometimes at pubs, chilli is served with a little dish of sour cream, or some tortilla's, so I was a little bit disappointed that this was served very simply with yellow rice in a ring. The flavour, however, was really good, and the mince very fine. My partner's roast lamb was served with plenty of fresh carrots and cabbage, new and roast potatoes which were home made, gravy already served on the plate and mint sauce. It was very pleasant. Good choice of deserts including lemon meringue pie, special ice creams, apple pie and custard etc. Staff could not have been more helpful, efficient and friendly, and the pub itself is charming and full of character.
