“Well worth a visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2012

Very good real ale, Excellent food and very pleasant staff. After a long walk in the local area a couple of very good pints of real ale in the large garden were very welcome. The experience was rounded off with an first class Sunday roast.

We were staying at the next door campsite so the obvious choice for us (as we were backpacking and the area is somewhat remote) for food and drink. We had a few drinks here and they supplied nice local ales which were reasonably priced.
We also asked the barman if we bought some eggs (they sell them), if they would boil them for us for breakfast the next day. They said yes, so the next day we came in for breakfast and obviously asked for some toast too and a coffee each. The coffees were very nice and coffee-shop style and quality which came together with a small piece of brownie. The quality of the boiled eggs and toast was great, and after asking how much the barman replied £5! For two people's breakfast and coffee that is amazing - I am sure it was a spontaneously chosen price - maybe he was feeling generous, but it was fantastic! The locals were very friendly also and the pub itself was very cosy.

I would recommend this pub to anyone!!

I stayed here on business, expecting to read a book and stare at my pint in the bar as is the norm with many hotels. Perhaps it was an exceptional night but I ended up feeling like one of the locals in this lovely pub with its real ales and ciders.
The food was great, the regulars friendly and the accommodation second to none. Breakfast was made to order and I even bought free range eggs in the bar - proper country stuff.
OK it was made all the better as the firm paid for the trip but someone has to do it!

Room Tip: All rooms are quiet and spacious with a wet room.

We stayed at this pub last weekend for one night last weekend and were pleasantly surprised. Whilst its location is a little remote this could be seen as a bonus - especially if you are intererested in cycling trips. The room we booked was clean and airy and quite spacious - beating by far a room we stayed in in Brighton two weeks before. Perhaps a little basic but stilll a surprisingly pleasant experience. And the staff were friendly and helpful. Which always helps, My husband's cooked breakfast looked delicious and clearly was if the speed with which it was eaten is any proof!

Good food at a reasonable price, friendly staff and a nice local atmosphere within the restaurat / pub areas. Plenty of parking close to the rooms that all have there own entrance. All rooms have tea coffee with a small fridge, safe and a good size wet room.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2011

My wife and I stayed here in May. There were some things that we were very impressed with - the warm and friendly welcome from the owners, the meals that we had in the pub were excellent and really good value for money and there was ample secure parking. So why 3 stars then - firstly as the acommodation is at the end of the pub car park we found it a bit noisier than we expected particularly at closing time. Eating breakfast in the pub which hadn't yet been cleaned from the previous night we also found a little bit off-putting.

However as others seem to have had more postive experiences maybe we caught them at a bad time.
