“Uncomfortable and overpriced”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2012 via mobile

I booked a TWIN room for myself and a friend. When we entered the room the second bed was in fact the sofa converted into a very small single. This was not as advertised or stated on the website at the time of booking.

The room was unbearably hot and airless as the windows only open a couple of inches. A room fan was provided but was ineffective. We did not sleep at all that night what with the heat, the noise from the fan and the traffic from the main road.

Breakfast: to say it was mediocre would be paying it compliment. We were informed that they had ran out of croissants (this was at 8:45am)! There was a queue of the woefully inadequate toasters which required two attempts to get the bread moderately brown. The orange juice was of a poor quality, warm and in my opinion undrinkable.

Staff: in both the hotel and the neighbouring restaurant were very helpful and professional. When asked whether I had enjoyed my stay I said regrettably not. They initiated their "good night's sleep" policy and promptly gave me a full refund.
Although grateful for this it did not compensate for a lost night's sleep.

I know Premier Inns are classified as budget hotels but at £70 per night this reflected poor blue for money.

The room was very much to the standard expected of the Premier Inn chain, efficient, comfortable well furnished in a utilitarian kind of way. We were given a choice on arrival of two rooms- one at the top of the stairs [room 34] and one deep in the bowels of the accommodation.
We chose the room at the top of the stairs which overlooked the scruffy and untidy back yard of the restaurant pub which was almost constantly busy with staff emptying bins etc. all of which was accompanied by the constant drone of the air conditioning and extraction unit of the said pub. In fairness we had been warned in advance but were assured the air conditioning would be off by 22.30 which was indeed the time it finally quit, which only left the pub staff to disturb our rest.
Whilst the room was of a standard I cannot say the same about the dining facility which was in the Horse and Jockey pub next door-like other visitor comments I was absolutely appalled by by both the standards and quality of the food-the staff were pleasant enough but oh my goodness the food was dreadful, served in a dirty scruffy environment. The breakfast cost me £8.50 and if for the same price I could have breakfast in the luxury surroundings at Premier Inn Heathrow why can't I have the same standard in Aylesbury.
The combination of the food and the noisy room really mean that I would steer any potential customers away from this particular Holiday Inn-there are some really nice places to stay in the in the area which are not really that expensive in comparison. I was somewhat embarrassed to think that European and American visitors to the UK would use this whole facility-its a rotten example of British hospitality industry.
Never ever again

Room Tip: Find another Hotel-if desperate avoid room 34!!!!!!!!!!!!

The pub ran out of food, had queues out of the door, demanded you chose the cooked breakfast before you could eat cereal or fruit and then brought out the egg and hash browns on a plate only for you to discover that the rest of food had run out so £8.25 for a congealed egg and 2 hash browns was excessive. Every other Premier Inn has been great for breakfast and we were shocked that the pub could get away with such shoddy service.

Oh premier inn how you have let me down after staying in Sheffield and having excellent service, we had to eat in the Jockey pub next door it was so dirty undermanned and no breakfast for us on a day when we were attending a wedding. It is no good saying they were nothing to do with you as YOU took our money! absolutely shocking I felt so sorry for Sarah on reception as she took all the complaints The room was fine but I will be seeking a visit from the Enviromental Health. Jan.
