What a great find!!

The owner Andy could not do enough for us. He was utterly charming and lovely.

The hotel is located in a very beautiful place. Totally peaceful and quet.

Rooms are comfortable.

Food in the evening was great. Very generous portions. All ingredients are sourced locally. Delicious!

Breakfast was one of the best ones we had on our travels. Superb smoked bacon and sweet chilli sausages. Highly recommended!

Will be returning to this hotel.

Four of us stayed here for two nights for a friend's wedding held locally. From start to finish the landlord (Andy) and his wife were very welcoming and made sure that we had a comfortable stay. The rooms were more than adequate and were clean and tidy. The atmosphere and general feel of the pub is fantastic and we enjoyed a wonderful evening meal in the restaurant. Breakfast was very nice indeed with good quality ingredients and a high level of service. We really enjoyed our stay and will return!

Five of us came for a friend's wedding nearby and all of us were delighted. From arrival (the owners stayed up till midnight to let us in and feed us) to departure (delicious cooked breakfasts all round) it was wonderful. Owners were incredibly helpful with travel and logistical planning in the weeks prior too. Adorable place - didn't want to leave.

Stayed for 2 nights at the end of May at the Gatehangers Inn in Aylesbury. The inn itself is full of character and quaint charm. The location was picturesque; lots of red kites soaring in the sky is a very beautiful sight as is the surrounding Chiltern Hills. We particularly liked the quietness of the location and that there were enough nearby attractions to keep you busy. The Landlord is called Andy he made our stay quite special; a genuine warm and welcoming person. The full breakfast was delicious and filling; also the evening meal was tasty and a good size. I would reccomend staying here and hope to go back for a another short stay.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 1 and found it comfortable and spacious.

We stayed at this pub after having read the very favourable reviews on Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed. Everything about this establishment is right. The landlord, Andy Dale and his staff combine to create a friendly ambience. The rooms are clean and comfortable(we stayed in room 1 which has a very comfortable bed and a double aspect which catches the sun for most of the day) .Breakfast is brilliant with properly fried tomatoes and keeps you going till tea-time! We ate in the restaurant and the steaks were cooked exactly as we requested thanks to Sonia, the chef who combines skill with a lovely personality. The pub is situated within easy reach of National Trust sites at Waddesdon, Claydon and Stowe and makes a great base for exploring the Midsomer Villages. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: The restaurant is closed on Mondays but the Crown at Cuddington (11/2 miles away) offers reasonable...

What a find (satnav recommended!). Andy (the landlord) was a friendly, charming and hospitable host. Great pub, great setting and great accommodation at a sensible price. Breakfast was excellent, kept me going all day, or should I say, sustained me all day! Highly recommended. DavidA
