“Gracious Living”

Harptree Court

Jul 13, 2008

go to [--] to see what the hotel and rooms look like. The pictures don't lie: rooms are spacious, furnished with prized family antiques and extremely comfortable. The sheets are soft, the water's hot, the basins are large and no sound of neighbouring plumbing can be heard.

Such grandeur can be stuffy but the welcome from the husband and wife owners is so warm and helpful that you immediately feel as if you are the cherished friend whose arrival had been eagerly awaited.

This place is for people who like comfort, quiet and make their own entertainment. The breakfasts are first-class and the nearby pub is a revelation of good food and quirky decor. The grounds and gardens are fine for an amiable ramble and the village is in lush Somerset countryside so you've plenty of places to visit.

Set in a wonderful location, Harptree Court was a pleasure to stay at. The residence is quiet, peaceful and magnificently presented.

We stayed in the Lavendar Room which is the best room we have stayed in during 4 seperate visits to the UK.

The hosts, Linda & Charles, were very friendly, courteous, and always there to offer help or assistance. Linda's breakfasts were outstanding.

Ideally located for visits to Bath, Bristol, Cheddar, and surrounding areas.

We would recommend Harptree Court and we will return again on our next visit from New Zealand.

Harptree Court

I had booked on the strength of the great reviews here, but Harptree Court actually exceeded expectations. I'd worried the place might be a little formal or pretentious, but it was exactly the opposite, with both the hosts and the house being genuinely welcoming and relaxed.
I loved our room (Lavender) - it was spacious, comfortable and decorated in a classic, unfussy style. The breakfast was excellent quality, and the attention to detail and all the extra touches were really impressive.
The house itself is set in a lovely little village, with a friendly pub 5 mins walk away, and is about 30 mins drive from Bath and Bristol.
I enjoyed everything about our stay and will definitely recommend this place to friends and family.

My stay at Harptree Court was a wonderful experience. Charles and Linda are extraordinary hosts and they clearly work hard to make sure that their guests feel welcome and well cared for!

My room was comfortable and bright, with a view to the orchards and gardens. Linda's tea and homemade scones were a treat, the local pub serves fabulous food for a memorable dinner and the Harptree Court breakfast is likely to hold you throughout the day, it's both substantial and delicious!

The property is beautiful, with lots of good morning walks to take. I look forward to returning to this unique bed and breakfast and would even go out of my way to stay there again on ANY trip to England!

“What a fantastic surprise”

Harptree Court

Jun 23, 2008

We arrived on a wet Friday for a nights stay before going to a wedding near by. We arrived in time for freshly made scones and tea. The property is vast & fantastic with amazing grounds and we got the umbrella out and explored the gardens.
Linda and Charles are great hosts and made us feel very comfortable.
Our room was fabulous, with a great big bathroom, everything was spotless with lots of attention to detail.

Also the local pub, The Waldergrave Arms 250 yards away was great fun with good food

We wished we could have stayed longer - we will definitely be going back.
