My family, my husband 2 year old son and I, stayed here en route from the North West to our holiday home in Cornwall. The physical hotel product is lovely - contemporary bedrooms & bathrooms, bit on small side, in fact our Premier Inn room recently was signifanctly larger, but clean and well maintained. We used the pool at the separate leisure/spa centre and ate our main meal in the lounge above - great food & good value for money. The original room we were allocated was above the bar and outside bar seating area and in the afternoon the noise from that area was already audible in the room, I requested to be moved to another room. I was, although my request was clearly irriatating to the reception team who repeatedly told me they were full the following evening and this was difficult - given I had booked the room stating we were bringing a young child some consideration and foresight in the room allocation could have avoided the need for me to request a room change! The reception team I encountered were young, inexperienced, verging on surly at times which definately ngeatively impacted our experience. The hotel is very much a wedding venue and throughout my one night stay was repeatedly asked "are you with the wedding party?" and very much felt directed and shunted to secondary areas for breakfast, dining etc. The Friday night we stayed there was an 80's party night was being held and whilst the noise of the event didn't impact us directly the noise of guests returning late to rooms did. Overall the actual hotel product looks great but the experience is very average/lacking as a result of the staff and service focus on weddings and events. As a result it made me as an independent guest at the hotel feel very much a second class citizen.
