“Great base for Exploring Bristol”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2014

Stayed here for one night over the Easter bank holiday and it offers exactly what you need with no frills! I find that when you stay in a city, it's unnecessary to have a plush hotel as it is purely somewhere to rest your head and have a wash! So the good things are... it is in a fantastic location close to the water and near lots of bars and restaurants (including a Wetherspoon!) and it is VERY close to the aquarium and planetarium! The room is clean, has tea and coffee making facilities and the beds are very comfortable! The shower is powerful and spacious, check in time is midday which is a plus as many other hotels have a much later check in time. So in a nutshell this hotel offers the basics of what you need and does it well! So the not so good stuff... parking! The nearest car park is the millennium car park which is close by but can be quite expensive. If you park there, the hotel staff will swipe your parking ticket and give you a discount, we parked for around 29 hours and it came to £21 and that was including the discount! Also, when we arrived, we were allocated a twin room even though we had booked a double which was slightly annoying, however the lady on the desk was very helpful and promptly sorted this out for us, none of the double rooms were ready but she got this sorted and within 20minutes we were in the right room! Overall, the good far out ways the bad and we had a very pleasant stay!

I have used this IBIS on about 3 occasions when staying in Bristol on business. I used it when other alternatives were not available. I expect a budget chain hotel to be functional rather than pleasant but the Ibis is at the high end of the "Soulless Box" scale.
The rooms are very basic but clean. The lack of air conditioning makes it stuffy and the window was difficult to open. The TV did not work. The capsule style shower room was also fairly depressing.
On the positive side the staff were reasonably friendly and quick and the breakfast was quite good.

Room Tip: Higher up so you can open the window without too much noise

Very pleased with all aspects of the hotel. Booking in was efficient although my room was not ready.
I was surprised by the amount of Hen/Stag parties staying there even if that was the reason for my stay. Saying that there was not a lot of disturbance during the night and we enjoyed a good night's sleep.
Very impressed with the security arrangements especially when returning to the hotel at night. Only allowed in by showing identity and having a booking.

Room Tip: Higher floors are quieter I understand.

I have stayed at this hotel many times as it is a good location for me.I gave a review last year praising this hotel.
Something seems to have happened recently and standards have slipped this year, as my last two visits in February and again earlier this week have not been a good experience. The beds on both occasions were terrible with a double bed with two thin useless mattresses that slide about, with a double duvet cover with a single duvet which is absolutely useless, previously the beds were comfortable and a good night`s sleep possible.
On this weeks visit my son`s room had an overpowering foul drain smell which staff could do nothing about as there were apparently no alternative rooms and they had to endure that stench all night which was disgusting. That had to taken up with the manager in the morning, whose answer was to offer a paltry 10% reduction which was eventually changed to a refund after refusing the derisory offer.
I sincerely hope this hotels standards can rapidly be returned to it`s previous level of good service.

Room Tip: Avoid 119 unless you want to sleep in a sewer.

Good value for money, no frills hotel. Room good size, clean, everything I needed. View out the window straight into someone's office and can hear other people in their rooms but it didn't worry me, I wasn't there for a holiday.
