Description: The Old Bookshop is a small, eclectic cafe/bar that serves good food at a fair price. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. The walls are covered in old photographs, typewriters and curiosities. The menu is written on a blackboard, and you order at the bar. Your meal will be served on vintage mismatched china. Don't expect a stuffy restaurant, we are just a quirky little bar that does great food! We recently added a cocktail bar with the most delicious cocktails imaginable.

“Very good, inexpensive Sunday lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

You can book on Sundays, not on other days. It was a very enjoyable lunch, main course roasts with roast veggies that I would have been happy to have produced myself, buzzy atmosphere, nice decor, old brick walls and floor, retro bric-a brac, wooden tables. Mostly young clientele, a few older. Starters very copious, perhaps too copious. Nice concern over dietary requirements. Friendly, helpful staff. Wine list is nothing special, could do better? £11.95 for 2 course Sunday lunch. We shall go back.

“Love this place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2012

A great atmosphere, great food, in fact one of the best Roast Dinners about - so glad you guys bought it back. Staff always friendly and accommodating and just a great place for a pint with friends and decorated beautifully with lots of quirky items.

Love this place! The food is great plus they serve unusual drinks (my favourite tipple Red Stag yesss) and gorgeous cakes. Wonderful and friendly bar staff, amazing décor. What more could you want.

“yummy roast dinner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2012

Popped in for Sunday roast after trying a few other venues on North Street.

We hadn't reserved a table so we were very lucky that the owner managed to move a few reservations around to make room for our table of 3.

Lovely welcoming service, awesome food, and I especially loved the quirky miss matched tea sets :D

Would recommend reserving a table on their busy days but am so pleased they could squeeze us in as the roast was delicious!!! :D
