“lovely place, excellent day out!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2011

We really enjoyed our day out here, even though the weather wasnt great we found lots of things to do, the talks on the sealions, meekats and in the butterfly farm were great, we took our own picnic but did buy hot drinks there, i think they were a bit pricey but everyone has didnt ideas, the animal encounter was good 2 lovely ladies who are volunteers took the talk and you could see they really cared about the zoo.

There were 2 lion cubs which were lovely and a baby seal, there did seem to be quite a few babies which is great! If you get time check out the lemas inclosure they are great running around, you can get really close to them. Feeding the loiketts was so funny,as soon as you walk into the inclosure they all fly over (they love the food you can get them, its 2 for £!) they dont leav you alone until its all gone!!

The gardens are very well looked after and there is alot of choice in the gift shop, there is an activity centre which kids can go and join in if they like but we didnt get time. We felt we had value for money we did buy a family ticket which was £40.50 including the donation which we were happy to pay.

I would be happy to return here again next year and see all the babies growing up

“Great Day Out”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2011

I know it's expensive in fact many of the reviews on TA scream about the price and £14 including the optional donation is a lot but we really enjoyed our time at the zoo and in the end felt we got value for money. The zoo isn't the biggest but it is a very high quality attraction with all the animals in good well maintained enclosures, you can also get close to many of the animals in walk through exhibits. In the monkey habitat the lemurs came right down next to us and in the bat cage the bats were climbing through the trees right in front of us before flying around making some children, women, and men(!) scream! Being August the gardens also looked great and added to the really good lay out of the place which made it so nice to walk around.

“Best zoo ever visited”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2011

Bristol Zoo Gardens is by far the best zoo we have ever visited. The animals were obviously well cared for, looked healthy and active. Highlights included the animal encounter talk, the lion cubs, the okapi, meerkats, prairie dogs, butterfly world, giant tortoises and being under water with the penguins and seals! The whole zoo is very well set out, clean and the restaurant is a brilliant example of how to cook and serve quality food and drink despite having a captive customer base. We were staying in Somerset near Burnham for the week and only decided on the zoo when fed up with the British summer- was easily the best day of the holiday.

“Great day out”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2011

we used the local bus service to get to the zoo. It stops opposite the zoo which is very handy. The zoo is a really nice place to visit, the animals are easy to see and look well cared for. The zoo keepers are very knowledgable and asked us if there was anything we would like to know about the animals. I have to say i think the best bit is feeding the lorikeets, me and my friend fed them 3 times and would have loved to feed them more. You have to pay for a pot of nectar to feed them 1 pot = 70p or 2pots= £1. They eat really fast and it is gone within seconds. me and my friend wanted to take pictures, after the first time we fed them we discovered they ate to fast to get good photos. so we both took it in turns of one person feed them and the other take pictures. we went to the cafe to eat we both had jacket potato and salad which was very expensive and was ok to eat but wasnt that nice. on the way out of the zoo we noticed there was a green screen and photos printed of people that visited the zoo to buy. it wasnt there when we came into the zoo so was annoyed as i would have liked a photo for a keepsake. They should have a poster that tells you the times the people will be there to take photos. overall had a really enjoyable day :)

“Great Attraction especially for families”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2011

Years since we vsited a zoo but Bristol Zoo excelled although a bit pricey at £12 per adult. Excellent facilities with good sizeable areas for the animals.Excellent educational day out for children with high wire walk being the highlight. Extensive grass areas in gardens for picnics. A great day out.
