We stayed at The Clifton last year and decided to stay there again because of the great experience we had. This hotel is a short bus ride from the train station (the bus stops a few building from the hotel) and is located near the Bristol Zoo, Broadmead Shopping Centre and University campus buildings. Our room was cozy, but very bright, well stocked with tea, fruit and coffee and the washroom was spotless.
The hotel was going through renovations (expected to be done this fall) but we were unaware when we booked. They are converting their reception area into a cafe/bar of some sort, so you have to enter through Racks (their bar/restaurant). It was awkward to manoeuver through people trying to eat, but some patrons were kind enough to give us a hand after we provided them with some clumsy entertainment.
A word of advise if their renovations are still going on - bring ear plugs as they start early in the morning!
