“Grand”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2012 via mobile

Stayed here on a Sunday night for a gig at Colston Hall in Bristol. Lovely Hotel and great location it's a very grand hotel and would be great for a wedding or function. My only criticism was a very slow check in stayed through a points stay via avios. receptionist seemed like she had no clue about it and took a while to digest and to sort for us but overall the stay was great

i have stayed in this Hotel several times. the rooms are very well appointed, the staff are very helpful, and the breakfast very good. the parking is on site (underground, charges apply!) you can get to the hotel lobby without going outside! The hotel is always buzzing (lots of weddings on weekends)

Room Tip: ask (or email the head receptionist) for a room not overlooking the very busy Park Street.

I booked the hotel for the second time to hold a business meeting and it will be the last time I will be using it. It was OK as a meeting room and the service was adequate, nothing special but we use it as a meeting place as it is central and near our head office and had planned to use it again. What has now put me off and means I will never use it again is the car park. I appreciate that may sound odd but it was such an inconvenience I would never use it again. The hotel has a car park under the building but what was really bad was the payment method, 10 of my team turned up and none of them or I realised you are supposed to register with the via phone when you turn up, this isn't with the hotel but a separate company. So when we came to leave we found out we couldn't pay at reception and you could only pay via a 3rd party company but you had to open an account with them. This required all my credit card details and mobile phone, I tried to avoid this and pay direct but no, unless you open an account you can't pay and will be fined. It took 15 mins to do this over the phone and was not straight forward, I thought maybe it was my fault that it took that long but every single member of my team had the same palaver. To annoy me more once you had paid you get a 20p admin charge, considering there is no other way this is insulting and as all my team will claim it back to not get any receipt will be an issue for HRMC, you can get a receipt but you have to go to a website to download it. My next meeting in Jan was going to be here it won't be as I am so annoyed at the way the car park works, honestly it was that bad

Convenient location. Parking Handy. Good rooms and the queen sized bed was comfortable. Breakfast was included in our deal and it was very good. Service in the bars was also good but they did close one of the bars for a private function which was disappointing. Would stay again.

Was here for business and for that - it's fine. Finding the place at night though even with satnav was a nightmare - myself and some other delegates all managed to do a number of circuits round the city centre before finding it - better, more prominent and better lit signage is needed.

I'm a Marriott rewards member and had ore booked a smoking room, but none were available. I was promised they would find me the next day to update me on availability, but nobody bothered.

Breakfast was ok - a pretty alright hotel breakfast with a reasonably good selection. We attended a dinner event there and the food was pretty average. Great coffee in the bar though and a good barista - makes all the difference.

The rooms were spacious, but decor is tired and needs refreshing. My room was front facing and noisy at night - which means it must have been super noisy, as I live on Brighton seafront so am used to traffic and people in the small hours.

It's basically a lovely grand old hotel with all the resplendent splendour, but it could use a little TLC to restore its former glory. Service was not 5* - more 3*, with a few exceptions.

If it was my money, not my company's - would I pay to go back? Unlikely.

i recently stayed at the hotel marriott in bristol, on arrival i was suprised to see various people running around wanting to help with your luggage. when i entered the hotel i wsas totally blown away with the elegance of the hotel the staff were amazing and i was just so amazed at how they could not do enough for you. the rooms were comfortable and very luxuriousand every detail was spot on although a very pricey room i could not not compliment them on the cleanliness and attention to detail. i can however only have one gripe i am an avid tea drinker but found that the tea bags were tasteless and the milk provided in those little tubs made it colourless liquid. 100% fantastic

I stayed for a friday night, eacy to find enen the car park was easy to find unlike some other reports, the car park was not easy to park in if you had a full size car. booking in was easy the smooking room I asked for had every thing and was very comfitable. the TV remote stoped working and within 5 minutes of mentioning this a new one was brought to the room. the beakfast was excelent both in quality and varity. The main bar was busy with a wedding but there was another one and this was ok. I had a lunch with about 200 others and supprisingly very good. overall a very good hotel and would return.

Room Tip: if you smoke the top floor rooms are for you
