“Hotel heaven”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2014

From start to finish our stay at The Bristol Hotel was perfect.
Firstly it was a bargain, very reasonable for the price.
Then when we arrived we were told of free parking in the NCP in the same building!
The reception staff were total professionals; friendly and informative with very good attitudes.
Design and finish of he place was ideal - heck even the corridors were a delight, probably better that any rooms I'd stayed in within Bristol.
Breakfast was great according to my friends and they even had coffee and croissants on the bar near reception for hungover foolss like me who overslept and had to eat on the fly.
A brilliant experience in a perfect hotel to top off a lovely visit in an awesome city.
Will be back for sure!

Room Tip: 211 was a good one...

The location of this hotel is brilliant especially if you want to visit the harbour side which is what we did to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary.
We were given a free upgrade on the top floor overlooking the river which was lovely and spacious and had everything we needed. We ate in the hotel on the sat evening in the restaurant which had lovely views of the river and the food was lovely if a bit expensive tho!! We even had a piano playing whilst we ate breakfast which was a nice touch!!
The car parking is free, they just provide you with a exit ticket and we could stay as long as we wanted. Over all we could not fault this hotel and we had a very enjoyable weekend. Well done to all the staff who made this possible.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor room if overlooking the harbour. We were on the top floor and could hear nothin...

My partner and I booked 2 nights to stay in Bristol to discover the city.
This hotel is located right in the town centre, near the river and within a short walk to the shops.
The room was not very spacious but there was sufficient space for the 2 of us - the storage was a bit limited dues to the cupboard holding the safe taking most of the space and therefore reducing the hanging space for our clothes.
The bed was VERY soft and I must say that we did not sleep very well because of it (and also because of the VERY loud music - playing nearby)
the bathroom was quite small but the toiletries provided were very good quality!
The reception staff was very helpful.
A massive plus side also was the free car park next door.

Dear Sylvie D,

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review.

We are delighted you enjoyed our location, complimentary car parking and found our toiletries to be of a good standard.

I apologise that external noise and a soft bed took the shine from your stay.

On your next visit we are happy allocate you a “harder bed” if you mention it at reservation stage as we understand everyone has different preferences.

We hope to see you again soon,

Sincerely,

Mark Payne

We had our wedding reception and evening do at the Bristol Hotel last year and I cannot recommend enough!

From the moment we met with the events team they supported us with the organisation of the big day and gave us some excellent advice. They were flexible with our decisions, made lots of recommendations for the day and just couldn't help us enough.

All of the staff were highly professional both throughout the planning and on the day. Peter was on hand to help make things seamless and and was flexible, helpful and very considerate. The waiting staff looked smart and were really friendly as well as helpful and accommodating.

Our 'wedding breakfast' was held in the River Grill restaurant overlooking the waterfront and we used the leather sofas as our top table. The setting was beautiful and it wouldn't matter what the weather was like (in fact there was some rain on our wedding day). We felt that eating in the restaurant was a bit different, a lot more quirky than the run of the mill wedding and layout of the tables and atmosphere was just amazing.

The food was so much better than your usual set menu at a wedding because the standard of the restaurant is so high it was more like eating out at a posh restaurant. The portion sizes were good and the food was just delicious.

The bar area was very social and buzzing both before and after eating. We had a guy playing the piano and the setting was perfect for all ages from my 2 year old nephew to my 84 year old nan! Everyone was comfortable and enjoying themselves.

For the evening do the room is huge and I'd reccommend having lots of tables out so that there are plenty of seats for your guests. One thing that stands out is there were plenty of bar staff and plenty of booze. I've been at weddings where you're queueing 4 deep at the bar but the service was fabulous and there's a huge selection of drinks.

The standard of the hotel is gorgeous and this shows from the whiteness of the table cloths to the top hotel standard of the toilets with quality handwash etc... All of these things add up and I may be biased but we had so many compliments from our guests - they were blown away with the standard of the day.

The bridal suite is stunning with views over the waterfront. They put all our gifts in the room for us so it was quite a shock to walk in and see them there. Champagne and strawberries in the room and excellent quality - the best shower I've ever had in my life.

A large group stayed over so in the morning they put breakfast on for us in a separate room and this was also fabulous and far superior to any breakfast I've had at another wedding with a huge selection of food to choose from.

When it came to picking our wedding venue, we struggled for months because everywhere is soooo expensive and you end up choosing the lowest cost option (house wine, first choice food etc..) just to keep the price down. Most of these places are in a beautiful setting but can be dated and really reliant upon the weather for the day to be your dream day. The pricing at the Bristol Hotel is reasonable in comparison and the quality you get is far superior to any other wedding I've been to. If you live in Bristol then your guests can easily get taxi's or lifts and I can guarantee you wouldn't be disappointed. We were overjoyed and the hotel exceeded our expectations.

Thank you to all the staff at the Bristol Hotel that helped and supported us on the day. Mrs D.

Just spent a night in the Bristol Hotel as we were celebrating our twins' 40th birthdays in Bristol. The experience here was so much better than bedding down at our daughter's house which is what we usually do.
Everything from the friendly welcome to the amazing breakfast buffet was wonderful. We appreciated being up-graded to a deluxe room. A comfortable bed and free parking.
My only complaint is being too hot even with the air-con, but that's my problem not the hotel's.
Will definitely stay again.

Having just read some negative reviews I felt I must add our positive review albeit a few weeks late. My husband and I stayed for one night on our 30th Wedding Anniversary earlier this month. We could not fault the Hotel or its staff in any way and we have stayed in many hotels. The room was clean and plenty big enough, the staff were all extremely helpful and the food was very nice too. As we had a Theatre booking we opted for the Pre-Theatre Meal which was delicious and very good value. We were given 2 complimentary cocktails from Lauren which was a lovely gesture. As we had such a pleasant stay we have just booked for the New Years Eve Package :)

The hotel is fantastically situated, the rooms are comfortable and clean, although the bathrooms are somewhat small. Bar and restaurant good and staff attentive and friendly. They just need more staff at the reception desk at known busy times - i.e. at 1030 when they can anticipate people will be leaving, we had only 1 person serving so it was very slow to check out.
