“Gorgeous hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2012 via mobile

Stayed here on a hen trip and it was absolutely gorgeous! Staff were brilliant, the hotel rooms and bed were stunning, parking right next to it! Perfect!

The only thing I can pick up in is the lifts are tiny but I don't like lifts at the best if times.

We phoned down to reception to bring us up wine coolers and a bottle opener and they did it with a smile!

This was booked as a very last minute break, and not being from Bristol, were not sure what we would find. We didn't need to worry though and we both highly recommend this hotel, my partner and I could not fault a thing! Breakfast was excellent both mornings and dinner was also of high quality, just wonderful actually! We want to highly commend the lovely blonde lady who was in charge of the restaurant when we dined (Sunday night), very professional and clearly excellent at her job. There were a couple of niggles during our stay, but upon informing the staff at reception of these, our concerns were rectified and we were treated to a couple of special treats for our inconvenience. Now that is good old fashioned customer service, we left feeling very valued as customers, and will definately be back! Soon, I hope :) Staff overall were very friendly.

I will be writing to the hotel manager directly to thank them for such a wonderful stay!

Room Tip: We liked our room on the waterfront side, bright and sunny, although ask for higher up than 3rd floo...

Everything was perfect last weekend for our family reunion. Thank you to all the staff at The Bristol Hotel for making the occasion so special.
Dinner in The River Grille Restaurant was relaxed and the Table d'hote menu provided a wide range of delicious food presented in unusual and interesting ways. Likewise, breakfast was lovely enhanced by soft piano music played by a very competent gentleman on a grand piano in the bar above the restaurant. He managed to keep playing as we thanked him for his music after breakfast-very clever!
The weather was excellent, so we were able to explore the area on the Sunday, with the sun shining.
Everyone was most impressed and we will certainly be recommending The Bristol Hotel.

Dear twitcherh,

Thank you for your great review and it was a pleasure having you all here last weekend.

It is great to hear you enjoyed Dinner in our restaurant, it is an area we are putting a lot of effort into at the moment.
I also noted your comments on our Pianist, I will ensure to pass them on as I know he appreciates them.

I hope to see you all back at the Bristol hotel in the future, and remember our lowest rates are available on our direct website,

Sincerely,

Mark Payne

Stayed here for 3 nights, Friday through to Monday. Beautiful room, very comfortable with a lovely sitting area complete with Nespresso coffee machine, bliss in my world. There are also the usual tea and coffee facilities etc. unfortunately there are not enough electrical sockets so you have to unplug something to plug something else in but hey ho. Very nicely furnished and room service is pretty good and prompt.

Cleanliness was fine but you do need to remember to leave the towels in the right place or put out the instruction cards (that are in the room) otherwise they won't replace the towels, change the bed etc. quality products in the bathroom. There are also good magnifier mirrors in the bathroom and good lighting. There are also plenty of mirrors in the room. There is a safe for use as well as hair dryer, iron etc.

One issue I had with the room was the brightness in the corridors, even though the rooms have effective blackout curtains etc, the light from the corridors that comes under the room door was piercing and on all night, so many hotels have automated lighting now that only comes on when people are walking past, perhaps the hotel could look into that in the future?
We had a view of the river which is probably better than the front of the hotel which must just look out over the road.

Parking is available at an NCP next door and is free for people at weekends, not sure about other times.

There is a really lovely bar area that is clearly popular with local people. It has a great range of light meals and snacks, try the fish platter, and the range of wines is good. They also have good cocktail bar staff, too many places have the list but not the staff to make them, not the case here, they know what they are doing!

There is a restaurant that we ate in one night, the staff were wonderful but the food was a little disappointing, it just didn't live up to the quality that everything else about this hotel leads you to expect. It wouldn't stop me going back to the hotel though.

Perfectly situated in the centre, on the river, great for ambling and discovering the city. Plenty of things to do nearby. Be warned, cobbled streets predominate so think through foot ware!

If you are looking for a very comfortable, well staffed hotel with great decor, give it a go, the bar more than makes up for the slight disappointment of the restaurant (and there are MANY restaurants within a 5 minute walk anyway)

Room Tip: Ask for a room over looking the river, these are at the back of the hotel

Dear RCB6219

Thank you for your comprehensive review of our hotel.

I am glad your overall experience was a positive one.

It is good to hear you availed and enjoyed our free weekend parking, we also offer complimentary car parking to overnight guests during the week.
I am disappointed the Restaurant did not live up to your expectations for Dinner, however rest assured this is an area of constant focus and one we
are committed to getting 100%.

We hope to welcome you back again in the future, and remember the lowest rates are guaranteed on the hotels website.

Sincerely,

Writing this as we have to watch I player as the TVs have all stopped working. Booked for 2 nights including evening meals as restaurant is v good. Let down tonight as no room until 9 pm. We had expected there to be a reservation due to our booking. Had to have room service ... Food still good. Hopefully there will be no extra charge when we come to settle up.

Dear JCALTD,

Thank you for completing a review while still being at the hotel. I hope the remaining of your stay was up to your expectations.

In regards to the TV, there was an issue for 20 minutes on Saturday evening and this was an external problem and beyond our control. Please accept our apology, we did our very best to get it resolved.

Our restaurant is very popular and I’m sorry to hear that you could not book a table before 9pm, please contact me next time you are visiting so that I can arrange a booking at a time convenient to you.

I look forward to seeing you back with us in the near future.

Kind regards,

Raphael Herzog

It was a lovely suprise to walk into this hotel room and not be disappointed, the rooms are bright, comfortable and are an exact likeness to the internet photos! The hotel has a wonderful relaxed feel, although in the city centre. Staff were friendly and polite, and check in check out very quick.
Guest using the NCP next door would be better checking in first and then parking on the same floor as their room, as there are doors to the hotel floors from each floor of the car park!

Room Tip: At this hotel even a standard room is great
