We were recommended to stay here prior to travelling from Bristol Airport. In hindsight we wish that we had driven to the airport and paid for parking instead.
The room we stayed in needs a lot of attention. We are by no means pretentious about where we stay, but a clean comfortable room is desirable and sadly was not offered this time.
On arrival the bar staff were abrupt and rude and ignored us whilst they continued to serve the locals (?) arriving at the bar after us. After what seemed like a very long wait a barmaid then informed us we were stood at the wrong part of the bar in a manner that I would tell our young daughter off in!
Finally after being checked in and receiving our room key we were directed to our accommodation.
The corridor leading to the room had an overwhelming unpleasant damp smell, I suspect it came from the very stained carpet and lack of ventilation.
The room was very basic. Basic is acceptable if it was basic and clean which it was not. The walls are very badly marked and scuffed, the carpet torn at the edges and dirty, severe case of mould around the windows behind the wooden shutters (in place of curtains) and rather a lot of old black cobwebs hanging from the ceiling.
There was no headboard and the furniture a mis-match of cheap alternatives that did nothing to compliment the room. The free view box was stuck onto the televison with blutac and didnt work. There was no sign of fire safety, no emergency exit routes or fire estinguishers.
We paid £60.00 room only for 2, it really is not worth the money. The sleep quality was appaling, being situated next to a very busy road (which we accepted), the accommodation offered no 'noise blocking' and opted for the wooden shutters rather than curtains which are such a pointless feature.
Overall, we will not be returning to the Fox and Goose and we do not recommend this establishment to anyone!!
