“A 'Wetherspoon' that will suprise you”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2012

It wasn't our choice to go here, we only went as we were meeting friends. We were pleasantly suprised. The food was very cheap, infact we had steak, salad and chips each and a beer for £15.50.
OK it was only an 8 oz steak, but it was very good, the salad was crisp and fresh and the chips were excellent and piping hot. It only took 15 minutes from ordering to when it was served, and the pub was busy. We could have had a desert for £1.99 as a Tuesday special but the main course was more than enough for both of us.
The staff were very friendly and checked that all was OK and also cleared the plates away as each person in our party finished.
Very clean pub and the best bit? the public car park at the back had faulty ticket machines so we were able to park for free.

“Very good and always busy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2012

Having visited most wetherspoons in the Bournemouth Poole and Southampton area this is by far the best so far

The staff are excellent - much better than the ones in Southampton (although I do see some familiar faces) tables are cleared even when really busy and the bar service is much quicker

This pub seems to be frequented by the older clientele so perhaps that is why the service is better and the steaks seem to be cooked exactly as ordered

Like this pub pity wetherspoons cant apply the excellent level for food and service to their other pubs - what has happened to the Sir Admiral Lucius Curtis?? No manager and no food (sorry run out again!! or condiments?

Visited this pub on a Friday night it was extremely busy but we got served within a few minutes

Perhaps will make this one a regular

“The Blackwater Stream”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2012

I have visited pub several times on Tuesday evenings when they serve steak and a pint for £7.75. It is usually very busy but it was quiet last night. As usual the service was excellent and the waitress served my chicken melt within 7 minutes. Excellent toilets upstairs kept clean. Interesting pictures of area in corridor and in bar. Prices attract families with noisy children. Perhaps they could have a family area in the pub.

“Above average Wetherspoons”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2012

I have visited this pub several times since it was reopened as a Wetherspoons. It is always busy at lunchtimes so getting stable can be a problem sometimes.

Tend to have their meal deals that usually involve a drink and they are always delivered promptly and well cooked and presented.
