“Beautiful place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2012

Love this beach. Stumbled upon this by 'accident' in 2010 and soooo glad we did! This beach is small, but GREAT! It has an incredible view to watch the sunset...or sunrise...and people flock there to do just that! If you go off peak (labor day on), there is no charge to get into this beach which makes it even better! It's also a wonderful beach to explore on low tide...you can walk out for what seems like miles....all while walking in water that's at MOST up to your lower knees. And while out there, your surrounded by Cape beauty....it's a MUST SEE on the outer cape!

“alot of marine life”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

i was stunned to see the amount of hermit crabs and critters so active right at the shoreline... I must have spent a good hour just observing the little fellas... the water was still a little cold when we went in Apr, but we walked in the shallow water up to our ankles... you could walk far out onto the sand bars when we were there, and people had brought their dogs to run free... really a pleasant place and easy to get to via bicycle.

“Hidden gem on lower cape”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2012

I really would like to think I I could keep this a secret but First Encounter Beach is the best family beach on the Cape. Other beaches like Mayflower and Skaket are some what similar in terms of small surf, long extended sandbars at low tide, warmer water etc but the tidal river at the south end of the beach is truly special. Depending on in coming or out going tide, to simply float lazily along the river is a wonderful experience. Our children can spend 7-8 hrs playing in the water exploring and searching for sea life only to come out for a snack or to ask us to join them in the fun. The best part of all is that in the 20 or so vista we have made it is always far less crowded than any of the aforementioned beaches. Other cape beaches may have more amenities and big surf but none offers the tranquility and beauty of First Encounter.

“Beautiful beach”

Very quiet and nice gem of the cape. I love how far the sandbar goes out- you could walk off shore for half a mile or so at low tide. Nice trip any day of the year

“Swim in the Sunset on an East Coach Beach!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2012

Come at sunset not only to see a dazzling display on this bay-facing beach, but also to swim in the pink and purple hued water! A beautiful rarity on the East Coast.

Plenty of parking, nice sand, wide open beach. This rivals skaket - especially as the kids get a little older.

Only complaint: this beach is adjacent to a marshy area - so in July there are flies... that tend to bite! If you go in the evening - wear bug spray!
