“My Favourite US Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2013

Just returned from a week at Truro in the heart of Cape Cod National Seashore region. If you are interested in superb scenery, outdoor activities, top class seafood, and the joys of nature, then this is the destination. Started the trip with a visit to the Salt Pond Visitor Center, Eastham, for an overview of the history and amenities in the area. Rented bikes and cycled a good portion of the 20+ mile Cape Cod Rail Trail through the heart of the Cape. Tried several of the walking trails - our favourite was the Great Island hike on the shores of Cape Cod Bay. Wandered and shopped in the sleepy town of Wellfleet, and savoured the wonderful seafood at Mac's Shack. Visited the Highland Light lighthouse and watched a video of the whle lighthouse being moved inland from the edge of the outer coast cliff. Much, much more to savour in this great destination.

“Lovely park”

Amazing views, definitely worth the trip. Went to a lighthouse, very interesting & guide was informative. Visited several beaches, each worth the trip. A little cold at times, so bring a jacket.

“reconnect w/ CC”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2013

This place is awesome. It used to be a regular summer hangout for our family when we lived in NY. Ran up there once every couple of years
I reconnected with friends last month and had a blast.
Make sure to visit the various visitor centers around the Cape. I recommend exploring the length of it all the way to P'town (Province town) at it's tip, watch the baby seals bask in the sun and Wellsfleet, Truro, Woodshole, Hyannis and Hyannisport on the way back. Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket will impress as well with a nice ferry ride out to them. Whale watching off the ferry is lotsa fun for the kids as well. They will regularly splash you as they did us.
The jeep, scooter and bike etc. rentals in Oaks Bluff a touristy little beginning spot in Martha's Vineyard is good for souvenirs on the cheap if you bargain.
There are several beaches on the Cape that you can walk, splash, play ball, horseback ride or just lay on as you gaze out and watch the trawlers break the horizon as they cast the lobster pots over the sides. We especially liked Dennis Beach and Chapin Beach and spent a good amount of time doing a variety of things we enjoy like racket sport games and some fishing.
Getting the best bang for the buck (value: comfort/affordability) I feel is renting out a bungalow or summer home like the one in Dennis that we did. The historic lighthouses dating back to the 1800's are charming and the view from up there is exquisite and hard to beat.

“Great introduction to Cape Cod Seashore & Lighthouses”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2013

A great introduction to Cape Cod beaches and lighthouses. Gift shop, modern facility with clean restrooms, museum of the history of the area... of interest to adults and kids.
Plus a state of the art theater showing a variety of Cape Cod related films from "The Sands of Time" (Formation and ever change Cape Cod), "Wooden Ships and Men of Iron" (maritime and seafaring history of the area) "Thoreau's Cape Cod" (The story of Henry David Thoreau's 19th century adventures on Cape Cod. "Voice of Cape Cod" (learn about Marconi's history-making wireless transmission in 1903). No admission fee, but donations accepted & appreciated.
The staff were extremely helpful providing maps, directions and "don't miss" tips as well as assistance as to which beaches were easier access from a walking and parking perspective.
