“Good hotel, wifi access a little too difficult”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2013

Very quaint hotel, friendly staff, a little far from the city center. Rooms were clean, great size tub, loved the access to pool and sauna. Only complaint is you have to have a separate passcode for wifi for each device. Also the passcodes expire after 24 hours. So for a 5 day stay for phone and laptop you're looking at 10 passcodes, all of which require you call the front desk for three passwords, as well as setting up separate accounts with separate emails for each device. As a business traveler, this is a real pain in the butt. Other than that, great little spot.

Overall this is a fantastic hotel with great customer service and it is worthy of its 4 stars

This is a nice hotel, the employees were very friendly and helpful, the rooms were large and comfortable. We were traveling with a group and dependent on buses for our transportation. This hotel is not within walking distance of any bars or restaurants, so we found it necessary to have our bus driver drop us off at a bar or restaurant and then call a taxi when we were ready to go home. Fortunately, there is renovation in the works, as the hall carpets were worn and there was peeling wallpaper. Hopefully, once the renovations are done, this place will be restored to its beauty.

Dear TravelingFood05

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel, it is always with great pleasure that we welcome international guests. Our hotel is about 2.5 miles from the city center that guests can easily access by either the public bus that passes directly in front of the hotel or by taxi. I am also happy to confim that the renovations have concluded and our new executive bedrooms are available for hire online and both by calling our hotel. We do hope to see you again at the Castletroy Park Hotel why not next year when limerick shall be city of culture 2014, for further information or reservations please do not hesitate to write to me on jgriffin@castletroypark.ie

I decided to stay here because it was a four star and it suited me to stay this side of the city. Initially, the hallways up to the rooms (140s) were quite old and musky but once I got into the room it was all nice and modern. There was a wedding in that night and because we were directly above it, it was very noisy. I would advise staying on the 2nd floor. Breakfast the following morning was disgusting. Nothing was fresh, everything was overdone and the service was horrible. The waitress never acknowledged us even though we wished her good morning. The only positive thing here was that the room service we ordered was lovely and the waiter was extremely pleasant. I won't be staying here again.

Dear Brian T
Thank you for taking the time to review the Castletroy Park Hotel, I am happy to read that you found your room to be “all nice and modern” although disappointed by the corridor please rest assured that these have now been renovated and are now decorated with modern prints. As noise has been an issue in the pas the newly renovated ballroom has now been soundproofed so as that guest may enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep. In relation to your comment on service please note that this is not the standard in our hotel please do feel free to comment further my mail on jgriffin@castletroypark.ie

First hotel I've stayed in where music from a wedding has prevented me from sleeping. No noise control between our room and the wedding. Then I was woken at half seven by what sounded like furniture moving or a delivery. I'm not sure but it was loud enough to wake me and keep me awake. Not good for a Sunday especially.
For a four star hotel I was also surprised to have a small double in our room. Most hotels these days have king size beds. Our room wasn't small and definitely could have fit a king size bed. Overall I would not recommend coming here for a good night sleep. Have stayed in city hotels and slept a lot better. Only thing I would return for is the food. Food was very good.

Dear JL

Firstly thank you for reviewing our hotel, let me firstly say that renovations to our ballroom have included sound proofing which is to be further modified this week which should insure a good nights sleep for all our guests.
Firstly thank you for complementing the quality of the food on offer at the Castletroy Park hotel, much attention has been paid to this over the past few months and we are receiving many complements on presentation, taste, size of servings and quality for money.
Thank you also for complementing our spacious bedrooms however I can assure you that all of our 107 rooms have double beds, the classic double has a queen-size bed, the executive rooms have king sized bed and the Presidential suite has a double king sized bed.
We do hope to see you again at the Castletroy Park Hotel for further information or reservations please do not hesitate to write to me on jgriffin@castletroypark.ie

Stayed for business. Main hotels areas pretty nice, but even though there is a refurb going on, seems like maintenance in older bedrooms almost abandoned, with peeling wallpaper and bathroom fixtures hanging off. Bar food fairly decent and the service was alright with small exceptions. The Internet service was free and fast, with a bit of a clunky login process, but still great compared with over-priced and terribly performing wifi at many hotels I stay in. Tv service seemed good, but not enough power outlets for the business traveller. No mini-bar facilities, so if you are hoping for a late night bottle of water, you're out of luck - I was treated to a foul smelling empty fridge instead. Overall, I'd try it again, but would like to be in a refurbed room.

Dear Spark0000

Many thanks for taking the time to review our hotel , We are happy to be welcome many of limericks corporate gusts and are hapy to be the only hotel in limerick to have a corporate car at our disposal for the business guest. I am also happy to inform you that the new executive bedroom is now available it can be booked both through GDS , online and with our reservations department. These bedrooms have been completely renovated and are designed with the business man and woman in mind. Also having now received several complaints in relation to our WIFI service provided by bitbuzz I am happy to inform you that this service is currently under review. Although minibar is not one of the services offered at the hotel we have both a garden room and bar that have full bar facilities from 08:30am to late night bar for residents, and following this our 24H room service is available.
We do hope to see you again at the Castletroy Park Hotel should you have any quires before your next reservation please do not hesitate to contact me personally by mail on jgriffin@castletroypark.ie

This hotel is going through some renovations at the moment so keep in mind that the hotel is not in perfect shape. What has been done is beautiful. It's going to be an amazing looking place when it's finished. We were lucky to stay in one of their new rooms.

However, one thing that isn't renovated is the lift and it makes a lot of noise, which can be heard in all 3 rooms that we tried. As there was a wedding, there were a lot of people using it to the small hours of the morning so we didn't sleep too well.

Having said that, the staff were incredibly helpful and tried their best to accommodate us. I will return to the hotel when it's fully finished but I'm just too light a sleeper now!

Room Tip: Wait until the place in renovated.
