“Picturesque location, spartan conditions”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2013

It's strange that in the midst of the city remained so large undeveloped area. But thanks this enjoy the cheap sleep in such a beautiful place. Almost hear the waves and walk to beach is a few minutes. Conditions are modest, toilets and kitchen need of updating. Staff was very nice. I would like to go there again sometime. Be careful to Auckland there is not any gas station (and lot of hills do drive).

Very interesting place, right in the center of town, very close to the beach. Staff with good distance to everything - time is passing differently here (and it's almost Auckland area). Campground place is very large. Public toilets and showers very modest, kitchen as well. The prices are very favorable. Views unforgettable. Of course I recommend.

This beautiful little camp right near the beach of majestic Piha was a surprise for all of us. Best run council domain camp we have ever seen. Small operation, not too many residents. You can stroll to the beach, walk up the rocks or just drive to Auckland for the day. Perfect.

Room Tip: We camped here with our family tent.

We had a great week in January at the camp. The staff are very helpful and it is a lovely relaxed and well managed campsite. A bonus is that you can take your dog with you. There are plenty if evening meal eating options as well with the Bowling Club, RSA, and the Surf Club offering affordable and tasty dinners.

stayed at Piha campground for a few day over xmas-new years. had a wonderful relaxing time met travellers from all over the world and friendly locals.
unfortunately the little cabins were all booked out so we tented and used the well setup communal kitchen.
Camp Staff were friendly and easygoing with great advice on where to swim and things to see and do and the whole place just oozed that relaxing piha vibe.
despite the weather not being sunny Piha beach is stunning in any weather and the campsite is reasonabilly sheltered.
there is hot clean showers, coin operated laundry and very well equiped communal kitchen with walk in chiller and a chest freezer.
Bring all your food with you as the nearby Old Piha store is the only store and is extremely expensive for anything- otherwise Lincoln Road PAK-N-SAVE is only about a 35min drive away.
The campground office has a few reasonably priced basics- iceblocks, tea bags, camping gas but not a huge range.
There is a play ground for the kids and 2 astroturf tennis courts.
We had a great time and plan to return again soon.
