“Terrible as a Resort”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2011

Me and my wife went there in remote this remote resort in Escalante, Negros Occidental. First the area, it was in a secluded area that you need a car or private transport to go there. Road is bumpy not concrete directions going to area very confusing. The view, typical nothing interesting went there just to relax and since it is in secluded area it should be quite. I was wrong because the travel is not worth it seems the same videoke store. The facilities are terrible especially the pool area (smell, pollutants, saliva, urine). We was swimming in pool one time and left our belongings to our rented table. There where huge number of boy scouts went inside as part of their activity when we check our belongings some where lost. We reported to the management and talk directly to the owner. The owner is so arrogant instead of giving action she blamed us for leaving our things unattended. I mean you don't get that kind of reasoning especially your in a hospitality business. You should have care for your guest and no action had been done. We just ignore and didn't report it to police in order not to ruin our vacation but for the review this is the worst resort I had been too. As noticed it was design for cheating husband or partners who wish not to get caught since the area is very secluded as I seen there were a lot of old guys with very young partners singing loud and cuddling in their hall. Hall was become a videoke area and owner wasn't as accommodating. She reserve the hall as for VIP like local politicians or foreigners. For the looks this darn bad for a resort and not worth to give even a try!!!

This place was nice and quiet. It was located in the most remote place in the farthest corner of the island so it took a while to get there which really wasn't the issue. The problem was with their customer service and their unreasonable extra fees. I don't mind paying 500 pesos corkage fee for food if it's just a one time fee for the entire time we were there and if it's NOT per room. Our food wasn't even worth 500 pesos!!!

We ended up buying food from their restaurant which was really expensive and wasn't that great.

The rooms were big but very ordinary. It has a great view but so does other hotels on the island.

The owner/manager was unwilling to negotiate with the price so we can stay longer and she didn't care even though we are bringing business to her.

This was the second time our WHOLE family went there and we all decided that this will be the last.

This is the second time we stayed at this place, last time was about a year ago. There is nothing special about the rooms themselves, they are big but that's not necessarily a good thing since the AC has to work really hard to cool them. We had the whole place to ourselves, literally since there was no one else staying there both times we went. The pool is nice, big and clean as well as the kid's pool. The view of the beach is wonderful but you really can't do much swimming since it is very shallow for a long distance. We had quite a sour experience this last visit since we were surprised with a "corkage" charge for bringing and cooking our own food. Last time we were there we cooked a couple of times and there was no such charge, but this last time we were being charged $500 pesos per room, which was quite a bit considering we rented 3 rooms! We tried to reason with the manager and have an exception made for this time considering how many rooms we were renting and that the place was empty except for us. No luck, they offered to discount $500 from the total but it still didn't make us happy and we ended up staying only one night because of this. I think it was sad that the management wouldn't make a compromise since we promised to stay 2 nights if they waived this fee for us (considering that the food we brought was only for one meal anyway). Sad because it wasn't about the money just the principle, we were bringing them business and they wouldn't compromise.

We were very surprised by the previous comment on staff attitude. My wife and I have stayed there many times and spent even more day trips there. The facilities are first class and the swimming pool stupendous. We have found all the staff to be courteous and will go out of their way to be helpful. The menu could be a little more varied but if you let them know your taste they will endeavour to comply with your wishes. This is very definitely a relaxing and peaceful resort,if you want drunken yobs and party disco then go elsewhere.`
