““Peaceful and quiet in a beautiful natural setting””
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2013

We stayed for 5 nights in Cabin 27 which has a prestine view over Lake Guy. It is very clean, well maintained and is well stocked with kitchen utensils...a credit to the owners of this cabin. Queen bed mattress is extra good quality and is most comfortable. Lovely and quiet and peaceful. Lots of bird life (parrots, kookaburras, blue wrens, magpies, etc) in the beautiful natural bush and created gardens....a nature lover’s and photographer’s dream. Fascinating watching the water level changed during the day depending on the Power Stations’ water usage. Unfortunately, we were there during the heat wave in January 2013 and with only a ceiling fan, it was a bit difficult to keep cool.

We stopped in to visit the dam, and noticed the sandwich board for Bogong Jacks Tavern. Surrounded by Rhododendrons in full bloom, it was both a culinary and visual delight. The coffee was good, the scones better and the local marmalade was both a surprise and excellent with the scones and cream. One to remember and certainly if you're in the area in November, come and enjoy the flowers as well.

Called in for lunch at the Bogong Jack Tavern. It had been recommended to us. The food was excellent, as was the atmosphere. The walk through the dam and around the lake is worth. The waitress from Adelaide was very friendly and welcoming.

Room Tip: Well worth it if you are near Bright or Mt Beauty. A great getaway.

We stayed in June/ July and again July/august Great place to take grandchildren and meet up with southern friends for a few great weeks away.
Love the peace and quiet. Close enough to Falls Creek to let breakfast settle before you hit the slopes, and just enough time to relive the day on the way home.
Bogong Jacks tavern has great ambience, and good food.

We stayed at a cabin this weekend and loved it. Cute cabin, nice fire, kitchen stocked with everything you would need! Even dishwasher & BBQ.

Best part was the Tavern! Really good food (coming from a Melbourne foodie), good wine and perfect atmosphere for being at the mountain. Cosy fire & pool table.

Can't wait to go back!

We rented a three bedroom cottage in Bogong Village for four nights which we shared with two other couples. We found this to be a great place to stay as it was a really short drive from the snowfields at Falls Creek, the cottage was pleasant and cosy, and we could do our cooking. We also had dinner at Bogong Jacks one night as we got some free vouchers with our accommodation. We all thought Bogong Jacks had lovely ambiance, good music and great food.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2012

We stayed in the Bogong Village, Cabin 9 a few weeks ago to have a family trip to the snow. We could not have been happier! Glenn and Ellen were wonderful, arranging the accommodation, ski hire and lift tickets. The cabins are all independently owned so each may be different but the one we had was very pleasant and cheap for the snow compared to staying in Falls Creek itself. Its not modern villas but older renovated cottages, but given its for skiing we were only looking for a comfortable place to sleep. However we found the cottage very convenient as we could cook and it had plenty of room for the the 6 of us.

We actually found the 15 minute drive up the hill and parking in the day car park better access to the lift than some of the lodges in Falls.

The little pub in Bogong did a very nice meal and was a great place to have a few drinks after the days skiing. It is picturesque with the lake below the village when its full. As this was not on the mountain itself we found it quieter but still friendly and it suited us for a family get away.

One of our kids had a serious accident meaning he couldn't ski for a few days but we were very comfortable leaving him in the village with the Bogong village team able to check on him if we needed.

We'll certainly be back.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Bogong Village Resort is nestled in the mountains, midway between Mt Beauty and Falls Creek, in North East Victoria. The village comprises twenty six historic houses originally built for the workers on the Kiewa hydro-electric scheme. Each house sits on the side of a spectacular valley overlooking the beautiful Lake Guy, while the Victorian Alps form the background. Bogong Village is uniquely set amongst seasonal European gardens, yet surrounded by the Alpine National Park. Accordingly, the Village is "one of a kind", you'll be hard pressed to find something as unique anywhere else in Australia. This is a place to escape to in all seasons. The European village gardens are ablaze with growth in spring, are cool and leafy green in summer and then transform to give a spectacular colourful display in Autumn. A centrally located tavern provides a welcome country atmosphere, hearty meals and ice cold beer. And if you don't feel like cooking yourself, the chef might even cook that big trout you catch! ... more   less
