“Fresh”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2013

We had a wonderful late lunch at around 1600, but was disappointed that some of their items on the menu was not available. The oysters, mussels and fish was very fresh and the bottled gingerale very refreshing. The moral of this story is to go early to enjoy all the items on their menu. Highly recommended.

“Freshest seafood, prepared delightfully and and served with a smile.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2013

A don't know how one could go wrong here for lunch. In fact we ate there 4 times during our month on the island. The chef does wonders with only the freshest ingredient and a saute' pan. They have to be the friendliest and prettiest fish mongers I have ever met. We took home some cioppino broth, salmon candy and fresh halibut, all excellent.

“Fresh!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2013

We went there to get some fresh crab and pick up some pasta from a local pasta maker. The service was great and they were very helpful in how to cook the items we bought. We did not have anything to eat while there, but I bet the seafood meals would be fantastic because it is all fresh from the local ocean. I would go back and shop and have a meal.

“You can eat & buy seafood here”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2013

We had a light lunch (seafood chowder) at Cowichan Bay Seafood and really enjoyed the meal. The soup came with organic artisan break & was a nice lunch meal. This place also sells fresh & frozen seafood & other items that are very interesting. A nice little place for a meal, or to get some fresh seafood.

“It's all about the food, and it's great!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2013

It is all about the food, and it is great! We just finished the best fish tacos we've ever had. You have your choice of Salmon or Halibut, we had one of each. We also had cioppino which is wonderful; it was loaded with clams, mussels, fish and scallops. Most items are only $10 to $12. They offer local beers and wines with lunch or dinner, and it's all served very professionally in a charming casual outdoor courtyard.

Cowichan Bay Seafood has four fishing boats in their fleet so their seafood is as fresh as you can get anywhere. They also sell fresh fish, crab, prawns, mussels, etc. for take-away to prepare at home. Their freezer case is loaded with smoked fish, chowder, and other delights.

They don't have deep fried fish and chips, and they don't have an ocean view. What they do have is the best and freshest seafood, prepared creatively. We can't wait to try everything on the menu.
