Owner description: The climax of a 16 km (10 mile) scenic highway known as the Akamina Parkway, is Cameron Lake. Nestled between the majestic mountain peaks of the Akamina Ridge, this sub-alpine lake is one of many serene bodies of water that makes up Waterton Lakes National Park. Beautiful Cameron lake is a great place to rent a canoe and grizzlies are often seen on the far slopes.

“Cameron Lake; a four seasons destination.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2013

If you have ever driven to Cameron Lake in the summer, you will know that it is a site worth the effort to get there. Many don't realize though, that you can have an amazing experience if you go there in the winter. (I would recommend March or April when I say winter as the light and temperatures are reasonable...) Snow shoes, or skis will let you see this beautiful lake in it's winter whites. Spectacular. If you don't have skis or snow shoes, you can rent them from the Lodge........ simple, fun and affordable.

“Stunning!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2013

We live quite close to Waterton, so Cameron Lake is a regular day trip for us. We love this lake, it's at high altitude and can be a little cool in Spring and Autumn so take a sweater. The road to the lake is closed in winter.
You can rent a canoe, kayak or pedal thingy, but it is SUPER expensive or you can bring your own. The car park is close to the launch area and so easy to carry a canoe down to the lake.
Take a hike down the lake but watch for bears as apparently they are plentiful in this area although I have personally never seen one here.

The far tip of the lake is actually in the USA and the rest in Canada and if you do feel energetic enough to canoe down to the end, it's worth the trip as there are some great waterfalls and pools to explore.

You can also do a long hike down to Waterton town from here, which take about 4 hours. The water in the lake is too cold to swim in at any time of the year, but there are lots of great places to picnic, hike or of course explore the lake by canoe or kayak.

“Prettiest Lake Ever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2013

Oh this lake!! Although there is often a lot of visitors to trip over at the lake it is lovely to rent a canoe and troll out the the middle for a peaceful view of the lake. The walk around the lake is easy and relaxing and worth doing and the lake itself is truly one you won't want to miss.
