“Disppointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

The place was falling apart. While our room was adequate, the service was abysmal. The bathtub didn't drain and no attempt was made to fix it, the cleaning crew threw away our beer, and there was no place for outside seating. The few was amazing and could have so easily been enjoyed.

My family have very little time to get away during the summer. Going to Waterton was the perfect vacation and the Waterton Lakes Lodge was perfect for our family. I have a young daughter and she could see the amazing water park and playground. this playground is seriously the biggest gym i havve seen in a town. My daughter was in heaven!
We stayed in a kitchenette suite. This was an under statement as the kitchen was small but you could cook any family dinner in it.
We like the games room and the pool was perfect for small kids.
We will be back!

The hefty price reflects the location, and though no big issues with the room, it was definitely overpriced. Room was just ok and everything a bit tired. Knob kept falling off the dresser. Everything else worked, was clean, bed ok, etc. No fridge and had to go to the main building for ice. The pool looked great but couldn't get pool towels so never used it. The little balcony was nice.
Loved the location. The village of Waterton Lakes is a delight. Close to the dock for the boat tour. Hot Dog restaurant across the street, and lovely restaurants in all through the town just a few steps away. We did not eat at the establishment on site. Short drive to wonderful hiking, etc.
If we return to WL (which I hope we do) I'd look for another place to stay, but would return here if nothing else turns up.

You obviously cannot beat the location of this hotel located in the most beautiful part of the Rocky Mountains. This was the second time I stayed at this hotel, and I must say, the experience was horrible. I was in Waterton for a conference. I booked a delux room almost a year before my arrival. When I called just to double check on my reservation two months ahead of time, they didn't even have it. Because they were fully booked, all they had was a standard room. Upon our arrival, we did manage to get our delux room, though with a great deal of arm wrestling with the front desk staff. Housekeeping staff were terrible. The only thing they did to clean the room, was remake the bed I had already made. To top it off. Instead of giving us clean towels when we requested, they folded up wet dirty towels and placed them on the racks like they were clean. That is the most unhygienic and disgusting thing they could do. How lazy can you get? The bed in our room was very uncomfortable. I had three nights of terrible sleeps. The bed was so old, it needed to be replaced. There was also no fridge in the room and the only ice machine is located in the main building. Don't be fooled by the nice outside look of this hotel. There is a lot to be desired. What an over-priced excuse for a hotel!

Oveall, this was a good experience. the beds were great and the rooms, though smallish, we're comfortable. You shouldn't be spending much time there if you have come to the Park. If their management reads this, please do something about the poor lighting outside the buildings. We had a difficult time finding our building. Also, this was the second time in four years that I have eaten here at the Lodge, and both times the flys were terrible. We were eating with one hand and swatting with the other. That should be able to be fixed!?

Room Tip: If it is a hot day/evening, get a ground floor room or at minimum, get there early enough to get the...

This place is in the right spot to walk to the falls, lake or to the main street of town to shop and eat. We had a wonderful time and wish we had stayed longer. We hope to go back and stay for a week next time.

Room Tip: All of the groupings looked the same. Anywhere would still be a great location.

First the good parts: 1) You can't beat the location, Waterton is a wonderful town and this lodge is close to everything. It's very nice to be able to walk everywhere without being on a busy street. 2) The staff is polite and helpful. 3) We had a problem but the management/staff gave us 15% off of our entire stay as compensation for the problem--much appreciated.
Then the not-so-good parts: 1) Rooms not very clean or in good repair, our blinds didn't work, there was a bloodstain on our comforter duvet (which was why the Lodge gave us the discount, and they replaced it immediately upon being notified, so it was simply that the housekeeper didn't notice it, I suspect this is rare) and mold in our shower. 2) Showers ran out of hot water if you didn't get up pretty early to get a shower before everyone else. 3) Walls are very thin and we had some very rude neighbors who were drunk and noisy at night, when I tried to call the front desk after being told to buzz off by the neighbors, there was no answer because it was after 10:00 pm. 4) Eat somewhere else, the restaurant is mediocre and there are some good ones in town. 5) I've rated the value as poor because two other couples we met told us of staying at great local B&Bs for much less $ with great food included in the price.
