“Find your adventure!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2012

My husband Tim and I have never been to this part of the Island, so we were excited, but unfamiliar with the area and what to do when we got there. The owners, James and Susan were fantastic and the first thing we were asked is "What will be your adventure for today?" They know everything there is to do and are gracious and friendly and eager to help you create your perfect adventure. Between the lovely room, yummy food and especially the charm of the hosts, we had a wonderful stay and plan to make it a yearly stop when we visit Canada. I do not have enough time to tell you about our adventure but let's just say that it was "paved" with lots of excitement .
Lynda & Tim .

Room Tip: We stayed in the orange tabby room. It was beautiful and cozy :) Even has a small fridge.

fabulous hosts, clean and well thought out rooms, immaculate linen. i cant say enough good things about this 5star gem in the middle of nowwhere. We went out on the beach with Susan and James and that was a new experience picking up clams and crabs and geoducks. Everywhere in town feels like 5 minutes walk, max,

What a wonderful place to stay and wonderful welcoming hosts. The breakfast was memorable and the whole experience unforgettable. To be invited out crabbing at low tide as friends rather than guests was the icing on the cake. The accommodation was spotless and comfortable. We will be back and feel that we have made friends for life.

I had the pleasure of staying at Orange Tabby B&B in Port Hardy during a trip to the north island in May. Susan and James were truly wonderful hosts and made me feel so welcome, like part of the family. They were most generous with their time and knowledge of the area which allowed me to experience some very special outdoor excursions and source out the tastiest places to eat in town.
I stayed in the Pug room which was very clean on arrival and comfortable and cozy during my stay. Susan and James have obviously put much thought into the amenities their B&B offers. My bed was spacious and comfortable with a warm duvet and several fluffy pillows. There were extra blankets and pillows in my closet if I needed them. My room was equipped with a small electric fireplace which, along with the large selection of DVDs and free WiFi, added to the home feel of the place. The newly added common area was a nice touch that offered an interesting selection of books and a social area to meet other guests.
Susan and James can certainly put on a spread for breakfast. I was impressed... not to mention full. Homemade eggs benny, omelettes, baked ham pockets, grilled tomatoes, waffles, yogurt and oatmeal were just some of the tasty offerings accompanied by fresh fruit and coffee or tea. Very wholesome and satisfying, a great start to the day. The grounds were well maintained with a garden area out back to lounge and enjoy the sun and glass of wine.
If I ever need a place to stay in Port Hardy, Orange Tabby will be the only place on my list.

Unfortunately Susan was not around but James was a star. He was so kind and generous with his time. We had a great breakfast with some friends of his who were staying and learned so much about the local community and the challenges they have. Lots of laughs - a wildlife experience with Larry (don't miss this trip - ask James when you book!!). The rooms were really comfortable and James could not do enough to make us feel welcome, we feel we made a friend. Top stop! We caught the ferry to Prince Rupert in the morning and our taxi driver Neil played his guitar and sang us a song as we walked away with our luggage to catch the boat. Great place, interesting choice of colour for the visitor centre and don't miss the carrot!!

James and Susan have the perfect B&B in the Wild North of Vancouver Island. Use Port Hardy as base to live the adventure. There's lots to explore, just go out and play.

In comparison to the last time when we stayed here they now also have added a common room which gives the Orange Tabby even an extra dimension of service and feel good atmosphere next to the luxorious and spacious rooms.

I can only advice anyone who visits Port Hardy to experience the warm hospitality of James and Susan. They really that extra mile for you!

Though I stayed here alone this time, I felt part of a warm family for my 5 days. Thanks again you both, you know I'll be back again.
