We stopped here on a bank holiday sat after being turned away from 2 previous restaurants. It was full but they did not take bookings so we chanced it. The lovely people at a big table agreed to share their table with us so we did not even have to wait.
It is a bit of a gastro pub, a very small menu I thoight but well spread and catered for everyone. I would also recommend it for a quick mid afternoon snack as the sharing menu was very appetising! The guest. Ever was very nice and the fish and chips we had could not be faulted, except for the following the recent trend in seeing the chips in some kind of wire basket mug, and the sauce in a re sealable glass pot ! Just pop it on the plate.
The only thing I would add was that after the meal was served no one came to check if we wanted anything else once we started. This is industry standard for so many reasons, but on this occasion not required as the meal was lovely. We also had a starter of the nuts which are those 1.50 for a pot variety rather than in a bag...
Overall very impressed with this find and not too far from Ashbourne.
Price wise reasonable with a under 10s kids menu available. 19 for a steak, 11 for fish and chips , burger etc. my son had the burger and that looked very nice as well..
Sharing options were cheaper..
