“Perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2012

This place is special.Beautiful old house in lovely gardens with a wonderful, welcoming atmosphere that invites all guests to make themselves completely at home. This is exactly what we did! All facilities are of the highest standard and you can expect a great night's sleep followed by an excellent breakfast with extra touches such as home-made bread and jam. The location is perfect too with numerous lovely walks straight from the door, and a handy village pub just at the end of the drive. What makes The Old Vicarage special, tho', is the way that Nicky get's it just right when it comes to hosting - the welcome, the help and advice given if needed, and the easy, laid-back, and yet extremely professional approach. The absolutely gorgeous house-dog that is Maisie is just the icing on the cake!

Staying in the holiday cottage next to the B&B in August for a week. The cottage is lovely, finished to a very high standard, with pretty much everything you need. Location is a little remote, but most of the main peak district attractions are only just over an hour or so away. Nicky is a lovely host and very helpful, without be intrusive. You should know that Maisy the dog "small puppy" also lives there, she is very young and excitable, but extremely friendly and well trained, even our little boy who has an unknown fear of dogs, rather liked her. Please note that mobile phone signal is not great here and there is wifi, but impossible to get inside the cottage, but ok outside.
All in all a great cottage, very well decorated at a reasonable price.

Thanks so very much for taking the time to write a review! Maisie does seem to have the knack of charming everyone. I was sorry to hear you couldn't get WIFI inside the cottage. We are looking into a booster but it seems that some equipment gets the signal whilst others are only patchy! Hmmm technology!! Thanks again. Nicky

We enjoyed a short stay in a very peaceful setting with a comfortable room and very appetising breakfast. Nicky was very hospitable and well organised to add to our enjoyment of the Peak District region. Certainly worth another visit. Home-made bread & conserves add to the tasty breakfasts.

Nestled in a very pretty location you will find a real gem hidden in the Peak District. This B&B is very peaceful and in a great location if you like walking. The rooms are tasteful, comfortable and have everything you need. Nicky made us feel extremely welcome and at home as soon as we arrived. It was a beautiful day so we sat on the beautiful lawn where we were brought homemade cake and tea on a tray. All in all a great place to stay whilst you explore the areas many attractions so much so you won't want to leave.

We had such a lovely stay at The Old Vicarage.

Nicky was incredibly welcoming and made us feel at home from the moment we arrived... not easy when you have a large group all arriving at once!

The beds were all comfy and the house is lovely and warm, even when it started snowing outside! The whole house is clean, really well decorated and in great condition. Its clearly an old building but the facilities are modern and we had no problems at all. We actually didnt want to leave in the end as we had such a great time.

Thanks again for a great stay

Highly recomended

I stayed at The Old Vicarage whilst on a walking trip with friends in March.

It's the perfect home from home. Nicky (the owner) is so friendly and welcoming. Big rooms, comfy beds and what seemed like brand new on-suites in most rooms.

Also, one of the best full English breakfast's I've had in a long time, set us up nicely for a 10 mile walk! Everything is taken care of, Nicky made us a packed lunch and even provided flasks of tea and coffee for our walk.

Great location for walking - Dovedale, Milldale and Alstonfield are all on your doorstep.

You can come and go as you please, you have your own set of keys and there's a pub about 30 yards down the driveway.

What more do you need ? I've already recommended a friend stay here later this year.

Thanks again Nicky !

Nicky, the owner of this stunning B&B in Wetton, has done a great job! From the warm welcome we received to the fab breakfast each morning. Her house is clean, relaxed and homely. The bed was really comfy and the room was well presented with thoughtful extras such as tv, keys so you can come and go as you please and a well stocked area in the living room where you can help yourself to tea and coffee. An honesty box is sat next to a few extras you may purchase such as her homemade jams (recommended!) and maps of the area. A great stay in this lovely village and a pub is located at the end of the driveway, perfect for the end of your walking trip, homemade ham and eggs was the best thing on the menu and friendly staff!
