Even though I had originally planned to stay more in the area around Castleton in the Peaks, I was drawn by the idea of staying on an organic farm. It was definitely the right decision. I stayed in one of the B&B rooms in the main house. The room was very beautiful and so comfortable. The views out of the window were amazing--stretching green hills (and then unexpected snow covered hills when it snowed the first night!) dotted with farms. The breakfast was incredible and very filling. I have several food allergies, but with local meats and produce, all freshly prepared, it didn't seem like an issue. I got lots of help with ideas for hikes, and was well-equipped with several maps. The hosts are friendly and helpful; they most definitely have the gift of hospitality. I can't wait to return to stay at Beechenhill.
