Stayed here at the beginning of March. It is situated on a nice street in what seems like a quiet area. Nicely surrounded by a nice bar called "The friendship Inn", there is the mandatory Wetherspoons nearby too, a Sainsburys and a McDonalds.
We arrived at around 1pm and went to check in. Luckily my brother had the print out of the booking with him because the hotel certainly didn't have it even though it had been confirmed and a deposit taken. After many minutes of rummaging and rustleing about they finally gave us a family room. We didn't get to go up yet though as it wasn't ready which was fair enough, we were quite early. They had what we thought to be a decent offer that if we paid an extra £10 each we get breakfast and vouchers for 3 drinks each at the bar. Sounded great so we availed.
We went down to the bar to get the first of the drinks. The bar was closed! They did send somebody down to serve us but I think it seemed like a hassle. We enjoyed a pint each of San Miguel and things were looking up.
Alex at reception was very nice and very helpful and did her best to accomodate us. She asked if we needed a taxi so we did and asked for one for 1:40 as we were heading to Old Trafford for a game. We went outside to wait for the taxi and by 1:50 it still hadn't arrived, so we went back to reception to be met with a slightly panicked face as she whispered to who I presume was a manager "Did you order the taxi?????" He said yes taxi on the way. It seemed to us it clearly hadn't been ordered and was then called as we went back outside. It arrived just after 2.
After a day out and about we returned to the bar to use the rest of our vouchers. I ordered 2 more pints of San Miguel this time to be told by a very arrogant bar man that I can't have San Miguel or Guinness on the vouchers. This wasn't pointed out to us when we bought them, nor earlier when we got 2 pints of san miguel, nor was it written on the back of the voucher. It was however written on an A4 sheet of paper which was hidden on the bar in between menus. So the only lager option was Carlsberg which is absolute swill and had I known I would have never bought the vouchers. He was unmoving on it though even when I pointed out we had San miguel earlier. So we reluctantly settled for Carlsberg.
We then went to the room for the first time and it was a very nice room. Lots of tea and coffee, tv, and everything you'd expect. Thre our bags in and went out for the night. Arrived back at around 1 and went to bed. Bed was nice and comfortable however I found the room to be very warm and woke up in a sweat numerous times. When I finally got a bit of sustained sleep this was broken by a fire false alarm at 05:30. When we got up a few hours later I felt like I hadn't slept at all.
Breakfast buffet was very nice and the hotel generally is nice. However I wouldn't return as it was ruined by their problems and an unpleasantly arrogant bar man.
