“Peace and tranquility”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2013 via mobile

We had three nights at La Ferme and we felt we had found the most perfect little corner of the Pyrenees. Our room was delightful and Cathy took good care of us throughout our stay, chatting with us and offering plenty of helpful ideas for things to do: dinner was excellent and it really did feel a home away from home.

An absolutely fantastic place to stay. Nestled in the mountains surrounded by greenery. Our first experience of the french "chambre d'hote" (B&B), and we are now hooked (although others not as good since!). We have a young baby so was perfect to be able to leave her sleeping in our room and take the baby monitor to dinner where Pierre had cooked a superb quality three/four course dinner. Other guests were very easy to chat to and Cathy with her perfect English gave us tips for daytime activities eg caves, walking, visits to the tour de france spots. Other B&Bs from the Alastair Sawday book which we tried were nice, but not being run by french people, the food and experience was not at all the same. On our last day we had a problem with our hire car, and Pierre was extremely helpful. I can't recommend the place highly enough.

As we approached La Ferme, we knew we were in for a special experience. The valley surrounding the village of Asque, nestled below, was aglow from the low light of the setting sun.
Pierre greeted us at the driveway, and made us feel like we were reuniting with an old friend.
As we were a few minutes later than expected, Pierre and the other guests held dinner awaiting our arrival. Part of me secretly believes they weren't waiting at all, but just sharing good wine between new friends.
Dinner was fantastic, as well as the fromage and dessert.
The accomodations were spacious, cozy, warm and comfortable.
The next morning, strong hot coffee and tea were a moments request away and breakfast was more of the same...delicious and home made!
For the next five days and nights we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Although we left everyday to cycle (if you are a cyclist - you must go here!) and follow the Tour de France, each night was like going home.
But, not to an empty house. We knew before we arrived, that Pierre and Cathy would be waiting for us, welcoming us with an excellent home cooked meal, good wine and their charming company and great conversation.
We would like return to visit Pierre and Cathy again, maybe with our bikes or maybe with our skis!
