“A layover Oasis!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2014 via mobile

We had a 7 hour layover from J-burg to NYC. Spending a hundred dollars for 6 hours of quiet and peaceful sleep and a hot shower before the flight to JFK was the BEST money I ever spent. Staff was gracious, in so far as we only used them for the booking. Highly recommended.

Stayed in Mercure Schiphol for one night. Wasn't impressed. Despite information on the website, the hotel does NOT have a restaurant nor does it have a bar. Why does the website state it does, and does it show pictures? The room I got had no window and hence it felt very cramped and I typically sleep with the window open for some fresh air: forget it. Normal check-in time is 20.00 hrs (?) and I needed to pay 25 euros (!) for 'early' check-in which was 17.00 hrs. Wifi is complimentary, however, very slow. Will not stay here again.

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for your review.
I'm very sorry the information about the restaurant and bar was not clear to you.
We have a cooperation with the bar and restaurant in the lounge, just 1 minute walking distance from the hotel.
Unfortunately there are no windows in the rooms because the hotel is inside transit area. We are a transit hotel mostly used by guests for a short stay before or between the flights, that is why we rent out day and night use rooms.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2014

Stayed here in late 2012, forgot to write a review up to this point.

The hotel is very convenient if you are in transit to somewhere else, or indeed if you have a long layover. This was our position and we were able to get the train into Amsterdam city centre to meet friends whilst waiting for our outbound flight. The hotel is basic but comfortable, it was clean and reasonably well equipped. The beds were comfortable and there was little noise from the airport, which might otherwise have been a concern. A good choice if you just want to relax between flights and get a shower and a rest. The price was high for what it was, but this is probably due to its location and no doubt they have to pay a premium to Schipol Airport for the concession.

The trains don't run into the wee hours and a taxi back to the airport cost us an eyewatering €99.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2014

I had been up for 24 hours and my next flight was 12 hours away. I could not have asked for a better located or more welcoming hotel. The reception was warm and helpful, the rooms were just what was needed for a quiet sleep. Comfortable beds, excellent shower and blessed silence. I have stayed in several Accor Group hotels and they continue to maintain their excellence as shown by the Mercure Schiphol Terminal. I have it marked as a favourite hotel.
