“The best option for an 8 hour layover!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2013 via mobile

I checked in as my overnight flight that lasted 11h arrived at 10am but my next flight was due only at 8:20pm a vey long layover a d in real need for a proper clean bathroom and a HOT shower. I wasnt too happy about the high price of 89€ as normally in Amsterdam you can find so much better and bigger room to stay in for that price but I had to take it. The reception desk is really polite and professional a very quick check in all you need is your boarding pass and passport. Although in my first room there was a very annoying noise that didn't Llow me to sleep, it was either a rat chewing cables or resonance or perhaps the ac but I complained about it and in 5 minutes time they gave me a key to a new room the reception desk also agreed that there was a rather annoying loud noise and they prommised they will check it out for the future. In my second room ii kept sinking in the bed with my 78kg's that shouldnt be happenig please change the bed mattres in room 18 :-) overal the rooms both where extremely clean, sheets where clean and smelled nice, the shower/bathroom is huge half the size of the sleeping room. They have a flatsscreen but you have to pay for waching barely anything. There is anphone in the room to order room service, food and drinks, hiwever they donsell beverages and chicolates/other stuff at the reception area , even noodles. In the room there is a hair-drier with a sealed shower gel, schampoo and conditioner, soap hair-cap etc etc vey nice set up. There is also kettle with 1 capuccino, cofee, green-tea and ear-grey te with sweetener and 1 pack of sugar. Great option for a quick recovery by a hot drink:-))) overal a great place, to pricey for the size of it and please please check the matrace and change it in room 18. I will take use if their services again in the future.

This hotel is situated inside the terminal building of Schiphol Airport -- perfectly placed for an overnighter before catching an early-morning flight. I've stayed here twice now, once last year and again more recently in March 2013. Rather than leaving the UK on a KLM flight before 6 a.m. to hook up with an intercontinental connection the same morning, I have flown to Amsterdam the previous day, stayed overnight at the Mercure, and then caught the international connection the following morning. Rooms taken for the night rate are available from late evening until 9 a.m. the following day; this is made *very* clear on all websites and documentation. If a passenger requires a longer stay, they can simply combine the day rate and the night rate. Double rooms are a very reasonable size, and have a large bed, wardrobe with hangers, a desk and chair, and a fully-equipped bathroom. Tea and coffee-making facilities are provided. On both occasions on which I have used this hotel the bedrooms and public areas have been spotlessly clean. While it is true that the hotel has no windows (this would not be possible given that it's right inside the terminal building!), I have found that the little standby light on the flat-screen television in fact provides the same sort of glow as a sliver of daylight filtering through the edge of a curtain or blind. Staff at the hotel are super-friendly, and check-in is a breeze. Receptionists will also hold onto your luggage for you if you want to go into Amsterdam, so if you arrive from your first flight before the room is available, simply leave your bags at the hotel, take the bus into the city, visit the museums, take a canal tour, catch a concert at the Concertgebouw, and get the bus back to Schiphol. Late at night the place is empty, so getting through security's a doddle. Back to the hotel for a good night's sleep (the soundproofing is absolutely excellent) after collecting your luggage from reception. The following morning it's breakfast in the KLM lounge (which is directly opposite the hotel) or one of the many eateries inside the airport, and off you go to catch your connection. Highly recommended for those on long layovers; indeed, knowing that the Mercure is available, in future I will book overnighters here on purpose in order to be able to spend a day in Amsterdam.

Great location if you're hopping between flights at Schiphol, and handily placed to make use of the airside shops and facilities. Room was clean and functional, with T&C making facilities, free WiFi, and a comfortable bed. Reception were friendly and efficient.

This is a great stop over if you have an early morning flight! The staff are friendly, the location cannot be beaten as its in the terminal building - rooms are clean and pleasant - but if you are a claustrophobic beware there are no windows. Highly recommended.

Great location in the departures terminal. Was on a lengthy international transfer .. Paid for a quick shower that seemed pricey at first. But I felt much better after. Shampoo and soap provided. Clean and spacious bathroom provided with toilet facility in each "cabin". Hot shower with good pressure. Only downside is the fact that you have to press the button (red button) to keep the water going for a period of time. Wasn't a huge deal and I do understand why it needs to be there.
Overall the value is great depending on what your needs are. I would not recommend for a short connection or short flight afteward.

This is an excellent choice if you have a brief stay in Amsterdam or a long layover. The rooms are clean, comfortable, very quiet with all the modern amenities you'd like. It's a really easy commute to the city. There is a train station right at Schiphol if you want to venture out into the city. The only downfall is coming back too late. It's a task to get to the hotel as you have to go through a not so designated security entrance. I learnt the hard way. I reckon I was sent back and forth countless times.
Schipol has to be my favorite European airport. On a side note, if you just want to freshen up, Mercure has shower rooms that you can pay and use. They are very clean, very modern and well equipped if you do not have toiletries with you.

The Mercure Schipol is very handy for sleeping during a transfer, being inside the air-side of the terminal, but for the one person rooms at least would not be very comfortable for anything more (and is not even very comfortable for sleeping).
The room is small (floor area not more than three times that of the single bed), and for some reason the TV was mounted high on the wall in a position that could not be watched comfortably from anywhere in the room other than standing in front of it. The bed is small, and bed, duvet and pillow not very comfortable. There is a small desk with a chair and a small wardrobe. No window of course.
In the shower room, unlike what you would expect for a Mercure, no complimentary toiletries - just when it would be most useful, the hotel being for people on transfers. Mine had only shampoo, the rest you can buy at reception.

Room Tip: Book well ahead - seems often fully booked many weeks ahead.
