I have stayed at the Airport Sheraton for over a month on and off for the months of November, December and now in January.
The reception staff are friendly and attentive. I appreciated the upgrade to a club room as a Starwood gold member.
The good points:
Food was pretty good during my stays, the only poor meal was a Thai beef salad in the bar on the atrium floor which was a touch salty. So good marks for the food.
The gym is excellent, open 24 hours with new equipment.
I had a problem with the TV in my room (701) on the 3rd stay, arrived at 06h30 on a Sunday but the team replaced it and had it working within 15 mins. Pretty good effort.
Bed is reasonably good
The bad (small things that make a difference):
During all of my stays, not once did housekeeping replace the laundry bag and laundry list when I used them. It's a minor point but frustrating at 06h45 when I was heading to work every morning.
A previous room occupant had dropped food or drink on the carpet in room 701. I asked housekeeping to clean it but spent the rest of the visit cringing every time my bare foot touched the "crusty" bit of carpet.
There is a shoe polishing machine on each floor near the lift. It was out of shoe cream on the 8th floor for the entire 2 and a bit weeks on my 2nd stay. Once again a small point but having to stop on a different floor each day to polish my shoes wore thin after 2 weeks.
Service in the bar and restaurant is like the slow motion scene in Chariots of Fire. I'm not a remarkable looking guy which may have contributed to me being ignored and overlooked.
The "service" button on the phonein my room often connected me to the tourism office in Chernobyl (no answer) particularly in the morning while trying to get my hands on those elusive laundry bags!
The above are all survivable to be honest. What stops me from giving the hotel a "good" rating is that these negative points would be more bearable if this was a budget hotel but given the room rate and the price of all the ancillary services (breakfast is a whopping 29 euros for an ok meal) my expectations are automatically set a little higher and calibrated to my other experiences of 5 star hotels.
Taking that into account, if you are willing to pay the price, the Sheraton is not an unreasonalble proposition for people needing to be near the airport, nor is it anything to write home about :)
I've noticed that management responses to other airport Sheraton and Pulitzer reviews seem rather formulaic, with motherhood statements like, "we are sorry to hear", "we pride ourselves on" and "we hope you visit again". So here's hoping that management respond to this review by fixing the above issues rather than giving me a serving of false empathy.
I'm staying at the Sheraton again in 7 days so will report back! I might even ask for room 701 again to see if that crusty bit of carpet is still there ;)
