“Compact rooms, but surprisingly luxureous”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2009

We visited the CitizenM at Schiphol for the first time. Not knowing what to expect, we were stunned by the overall relaxed and beautiful atmosphere of the hotel. Nice lounge rooms at ground floor and luxureous room interior made up for the compact room size. The room' s domotica gives a taste of how hotels and homes will probably be like in 15 years time. We will definitely visit again!

Very good experience. Good, innovative concept and worth staying if need to sleep close to the airport. Would not recommended for a longer stay than just 1-2 nights, but definitely the best option if need to wait for a flight close to Schipol.

Me and my husband stayed at this hotel for an extended layover in Amsterdam. We arrived at the airport midday and from signs inside the arrival hall we found our way to the hotel easily. It is within walking distance and takes about 5 minutes. Once there check in was a breeze. It took no longer than 2 minutes. We went to our room and I think it is the best hotel room I've ever been in. The bed, which was located in the far end of the room, was freshly changed and had 4 big fluffy pillows. They have this thing called a Mood Pad, with which you control pretty much everything in the room, like the temperature, the blinds, the tv and you can set an alarm if you need to get up. The room is economy sized, but you have everything you might need. There's even extra towels in the drawer under the bed should you need them. The shower and the toilet are in the room, and you get privacy by closing the cylinder shaped class doors. It's like you're in a glass tube! And there are lights that change color above you. It is so cool! It's like taking a shower at a dance club. On the TV that is in the room you can get many american tv channels and you get free on demand movies with the room. There is quite a selection too.
All in all this was the best place we could have chosen for our layover and if we're ever in Amsterdam again this is where we will stay.

citizenM was a super comfortable and and fun surprise! We stayed one night after arriving from a late flight. If you're staying near the airport, might as well stay here and have fun with this interactive and modern room. Not like there's anything else to do around the aiport..

The room is not big, but functions well and has a huge, very comfortable king size bed. It's modeled like one of those shipping container living spaces and has a controller that operates lighting (different ambient colors!!), TV, shades, music, etc. It was nice to just relax and play around with all the random features...plus watch free movies on demand.

Wow, what an amazing place. I booked this hotel as a stopover for an early morning flight and now wish that I had arrived at the hotel much earlier to enjoy the facilities! From the minute we walked into reception I was in love with the place! And then when I saw our room............OMG!! It was like science fiction! Beautiful design and so innovative and useable. The bed was soooo comfortable and huge and the shower was incredible. The bar/restaurant on the ground floor is great, we were tempted by everything and felt like kids in a sweet shop. By the time we left next morning we felt like we had been spoiled and I have had to promise to take my son back soon!!

I ended up being stranded in the Netherlands due to a passport mishap by the US consulate, and was really agitated by the whole experience, but staying at the Citizen M hotel, the whole staff was very accomodating, and made the experience tolerable (if the Citizen M staff is reading this, you know who I am). In fact, the staff was so great, that I feel obligated to write a review, to say how great the hotel is. For what it costs, a great bargain, a very unique experience, with a bunch of free on demand movies and internet. The room might feel small for some, but it really is a very efficient setup, and is very comfortable. Don't miss out on a truly unique hotel experience. Thank you Citizen M for being such a great sport, and putting up with me!!
