“Value for Money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2012

This is a hotel very close to the airport. No need of a shuttle or taxi to reach there, just walking. Very competitive tariff compared to other hotels situated near to airport. Small but very neat & clean rooms with all the facilities available inside. Best part, no queue hassel for check in & check out. All self service. Very co-operative hotel staff. worth going & have experience once.

The plus:
-Conveniently located by the airport (3 - 5 min covered walk); easy to access downtown via train for partying (or church visit), easy to NOT miss your flight the next morning.
-A bit eccentric, but in a charming way - granted, remote controlled blinds, 'mood', etc, are not for everyone - but it all adds some exciting twist, at least for a short stay.
-Comfy, large bed, very quiet rooms.
-A wide collection of on-demand movies (something for everyone) at no extra charge.
-'Home-made' themed dinner available at reasonable cost.
-Reasonably priced for what you get.

The minus:
-Room rather small (especially for 2 people).
-A very basic breakfast costs extra. Better selection available in airport terminal at competitive rates.

In all, impressive; This will probably be my first choice for short stay in Amsterdam going forward...

Room Tip: airport side rooms have better view than 'city' side.

Convenient location to airport & well connected to trams to take you into the city. Hotel staff very friendly, helpful and genuine compared to other European hotel service experience & much better than some 5star hotels I've stayed in Europe. Free wifi, free movies on demand & free international phone calls and plush bed compensate for the compact room. Rooms suitable for couples or single occupancy & not sharing since there are no twin beds so be warned not for people wanting to share rooms cause the pod set up of the shower & bathroom leaves very little privacy for individuals. I loved my stay @ CitizenM & would definitely visit again. FYI- If you have a lot of luggage storage in the room is a bit tight but what is not space constrained on Europe!! Go with the flow. Thank you James for recommending this hotel in Amsterdam.

First off, I had an absolute great laugh with the people rating this hotel with a 1. Most comments about the small room, having to share everything (shower and toilet) with your room mate and the lack of working space are true, but if you pay a little attention when booking, you would have known.

Also, you would have known from the price, as it is very good for an airport location. I actually loved the huge bed and don't mind a small room in a hotel; you're there to sleep! The location is great for early departures or layovers and I will definitely visit it for future travel.

I am probably one of the last people in the world that had never heard of these chain of hotels - a totally (new!) hotel concept and experience. As its all about the experience its hard to explain in writing...its one of those places you just need to visit. From the moment you walk in everything is different from the 'normal' hotel experience. From check in to check out, nothing is quite what you expect! Uber modern and cool decor, very clean and comfortable bijou room based on a pod concept ie toilet and shower in the bedroom with wrap around screens for privacy. The bed is the width of the room and is in the window so you access the bed from one side only. Lots have already commented on the mood pad which controls heat, light, music, TV etc - I spent half an hour trying all the different options when I arrived - great fun! Free movies on demand and free wi fi. The public areas of the hotel are very modern and spacious, breakfast was perfect for me - yoghurt, croissant, frut etc with a hot drink. This hotel is very close to the terminal but the room is very well soundproofed so you dont hear anything - it feels like your the only person staying at the hotel! I am not very cool but I felt cool staying at this hotel!!! I highly recommend it unless you are the sort of person who likes a trouser press in the room and a tray with tea and coffee on it and a fry up breakfast...in which case its definately not for you, your not cool enough!!!

I really liked this hotel and would definitely stay again. Ten minutes walk from the airport terminal, walk the whole way on footpaths. So stylish and well thought out. The welcome from hotel staff was very friendly, taking us through the booking in/out process. My room was on the 3rd floor facing the airport. One big room with shower and toilet encased in glass walls (so if you share I suggest you know the person well!) actually the first thing that greeted me on opening the door was the toilet - minute panic followed by calm as I took in the rest of the room. HUGE bed, white fluffy pillows and duvet. I liked the mood pad which controlled the shutters, lights, aircon, tv and bathroom bits lighting. Big flatscreen TV with a selection of free movies which was a nice surprise. Great smelling shower gel! My favourite part was the refreshment area downstairs. Self service concept with large high tables which are perfect for working on if you're the work and eat type like me. Choice of food isn't bad - sushi, prepared satay sticks, salads, noodles - which can be heated in a microwave. Serviced bar - again friendly staff.Sofas and chairs in communal area - ambient music in the background. 8 iMacs for guests use downstairs - nice if you don't want to be hunched over a laptop in your room. I think the hotel design encourages interaction - definitely had a home from home atmosphere downstairs. Had a great sleep - minimal noise. Definitely stay there again. Not much different in price from Holiday inn but definitely more enjoyable
