“A comfortable quiet stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2013

We spent 2 nights here. Quiet & comfortable room (the "Loft") in the main building, lots of privacy. Spacious bathroom with all the amenities. Excellent view from the living room. Terrific reference library of many books to read about the islands, nature, environment etc. Yes, there were cats but not in the guest area. We met Mike (love your sense of humour!). We'd definitely stay here again should we travel to HG. Mary & Manfred. June 2013

We just spentn4 restful nights at dorothy and Mike's guest house. It was wonderful and we would certainly recommend it highly. We had the suite on the back because we had our puppy with us but It was just wonderful. Mike has done it up right! The suite was very comfortable and very nice. I containedneverything we needed. Comfy bed. Wonderful little kitchen , etc. You could comfortablynlive for quite some time in thismlittle self contained suite. It even hasnlaundry hidden away. I think it was one of the cleanest places we have stayed. Very tastefully decorated too. It is very good access to main road and lots odmgood places to eat. Mike and Dorothy and their son were very welcoming and friendly as were all the wonderful kitties that lovingly met us for a scratch of a pet or two. Would we return should the occasion arise You Bet! Five start accomodations for sure. Recommend Doroty and Mike's to anyone visiting Hadai Gwaii in the future.

Room Tip: they have an amazing view from the deck and a infrared sauna for you to use also.

After buying breakfast supplies in the nearby convenience store, we were all set. The b&B also incorporates a shelter for cats (BCSPCA), and for the less fit crowd, there is a steep hill from the main road, about 200m along Alder Street to the entrance.

We revisited Dorothy and Mike's on our second trip to the Haida Gwaii. This time, we stayed in the 'Sunflower Suite', a self contained kitchen suite. We could have stayed here for a month! Everything we needed was there.
Had a chance to meet Dorothy this time: lovely lady. And Mike was still Mike...dry sense of humour and very helpful.
This visit pretty much confirms D & M's as being our go-to accommodations in QCC...when you've got it this good, why would you want to stay anywhere else?

All the best,
Phil

Room Tip: You might want to remember to book ahead...the place was full when we got there in late September.

We used this as a "stopping off" place before and after our trip with Moresby Explorers. First night, we stayed in the Sageflower suite, which was lovely and fully equipped. On the way back, we stayed in a room (forgotten the name) in a cottage where we shared a bath, kitchen and living room. It wa very clean, but the "double" room was a bit tight. It woud be a great place to bring a group or a family. Wifi, TV, all the amenities. "Dorothy & Mike were both very gracious. We were pretty much in and out so didn't get the full experience

P,S. If you like cats, this is the place for you. They are not allowed in the rooms, but it is the unofficial cat shelter for Haida Gwaii - which to me is a wonderful thing and speaks volumes about the owners!

Room Tip: There are a variety of room types and prices, check them all out.

This was my second time staying at D and M's and it was amazing as always. Meticulously clean, quiet and well maintained property in the middle of town. Great government rates and fantastic spacious suites. Be sure to request the two suites facing the ocean for the best stay. D and M go out of their way to accommodate special requests. They have been on the island since Noah's Ark and can recommend the best places to go and things to see. Big fan, my first choice!

Just leaving Haida Gwai after a week. Spent 4 nights at Dorothy and Mikes and recommend the cabins highly. Stayed in one of the 3 bedroom guest cabins and for $225 a night including taxes it was good value - clean, comfortable, and centrally located (Queen Charlotte City) for exploring Graham Island. The kitchen was well set up with coffee maker, micro wave, stove, wine glasses etc. beds were comfortable, showers in bath tubs but just fine. A good 'wet room' as you enter for the rain gear and a very nice covered porch with a good BBQ overlooking Skidegate Channel. Good place to sit in the evening and watch the eagles. No b'fst but the grocery store isn't far down the road and if you arrive on a Monday it will be really well stocked with fresh fruit and vegetables as that's the day supplies arrive on the island.
