“Come for the stunning amenities- Stay for the incredible hospitality & food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2014

My husband and I had the amazing opportunity to stay at The Manse during a cold winter weekend. We knew the hotel would be beautiful from the pictures, but we were stunned at the details. The décor and structural details of the rooms and common areas were beautiful. We had a chance to utilize the hot tub for a fantastic sunset dip and then enjoy a glass of wine by the fireplace and then continue to relax again in the living room.

While the beautiful hotel was everything we expected, we were incredibly impressed with the hospitality and meals. The manager and chef team, Kathleen and Chris, went above and beyond to provide an incredible meal and stay. Kathleen arranged an afternoon winery tour for us, and while we hadn't planned to eat at The Manse that evening, Kathleen and Chris made room for us despite having a number of other guests for dinner. If you do nothing else in Picton, HAVE DINNER AT THE MANSE! The food was absolutely amazing and everything was sourced locally as much as possible. Plus, the atmosphere was amazing and Kathleen and Chris didn't miss a single chance to elevate our evening in every way with wine suggestions and personalized service. My husband and I both work in the financial core of Toronto and have had many meals at upscale restaurants and this was better than many of those meals in both quality of food and service.

We really loved our entire stay and look forward to staying again in the summertime. The Manse is a wonderful new addition to Picton and a must visit when in Prince Edward county.

We came for only dinner, not to stay. One must select menu items via web site beforehand as this is not a commercial kitchen, but one geared for guests and by exception to non-guests. Even the 'rareness' of the steak must be prebooked - so there is minimal interaction between hostess and diners, other than serving the beverages & plates. Cuisine was excellent, but the the 'cool' urban decor lacks warmth. Establishment does not exude any county feel; fine for visitors who wish urban sterility. Pretension at attention to service/detail, i.e. wiping water mark off wine glass, was undermined by a glass with a quarter size chip in its foot that should not have been set in the first place. Thank goodness the cuisine is excellent as the ambience is lacking. Saw guests enjoying the pool. First time visitors to county sitting in the living room were pleased. Hopefully, the next time they will seek out a place with soul.

I've never written a review before but after staying at the Manse I had to share my experience. The Manse is one of the nicest Inns I've stayed at. I cannot say enough good things about it. Simply amazing. Coming from a germaphobe it's the cleanest Inns I've stayed at. The rooms are amazing and unique. If you are ever in Picton this is a must stay. I would recommend the "cave" room. Kathleen and Chef Wylie were fantastic hosts and the food was to die for. I did not want to leave. If you're looking the complete package look no further. I can't wait to go back. Thanks again to Kathleen and Chris. I cannot thank you enough.

Room Tip: Reserve the "cave room"

We went to The Manse with 2 other couples and were wowed by how nice the Inn is and how welcoming and friendly Kathleen and Chris were. The rooms were incredibly well appointed with extremely comfortable beds, crisp linens and a cozy warm fireplace (we stayed in Room 1 but toured the rest of the rooms, all of which were gorgeous and renovated to a fresh level of luxury). We loved the place so much that we bought a painting off the wall and are have our living room painted the same colour as the walls!

On to the food. I cannot express how much we enjoyed the food. From the home made granola waiting for you in the morning, to the wonderful breakfasts to the amazing dinner, everything was top notch.

I was hesitant to write this review as we wanted to keep The Manse as our own personal oasis. We can't wait to go back in the summer and try out the pool and hottub!

The Manse is a stunning place to stay and Kathleen & Chris were awesome people. We had an amazing experience. Their winter special was worth every penny and we would totally recommend it. Was so amazing to sit by the fire and soak in the hot tub under the stars on such a blustery cold night. Thanks again!

Room Tip: Nothing bad to say about the Manse, but if you're looking to visit the local wineries we didn...

I had the pleasure of staying at the Manse for a reunion with some friends from High School. There were 5 of us, with our families, staying there for the weekend. Absolutely beautiful area and wonderful accommodations. The winery tour Kathleen set up for us was great, and the food Chris prepared was delicious. Dinner is a MUST while staying here. Our room was lovely, and the common rooms were great for catching up with friends and relaxing. I loved the coziness of the Manse and the friendly manner in which Kathleen and Chris treated us. I can't wait to go back, I imagine it is stunning in the fall. My one suggestion is to make sure you have good directions and travel during daylight hours. We had a bit of a time finding this hidden gem, we'll worth the small detour though!

We spent a weekend at the Manse, and it was one of the most relaxing, enjoyable times we’ve ever had.

We stayed in the Suite and enjoyed all the benefits it provides – a relaxing soak in the air-jetted tub, reading in the sitting area, and the beautiful view of the town to just name a few.

The Manse is a beautiful, charming, and sophisticated inn. We relaxed in the hot tub, visited in the common rooms and ate in the dining room. The food is incredible – be sure to order dinner. Chris is an excellent chef, and we enjoyed a weekend of delicious meals. He and Kathleen are wonderful hosts who helped make our stay special.

We would (and have) recommend the Manse to anyone looking for a wonderful retreat for a night, a weekend, or longer.

Room Tip: The suite is wonderful.
