“good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

the location near Sandbanks beach is perfect, they provide park passes, but as there are no other resorts nearby, there seems to be little incentive to keep the property in perfect shape. There is a rundown feel to the place and as it's the only place nearby, their price is a bit too high - supply & demand, I suppose. We had breakfast, opting not to have the below average buffet but coffee & a muffin. There is a small restaurant just down the road with a general store, average food, reasonable prices. If you need to be near the beach, the Tubbs resort is ok for a couple of days.

My wife and I stayed at this "resort". Our room cost well over $200. The porcelain on the sink, tub and toilet was chipping away. The room's decor was vaguely reminiscent of a home in 1983. Dinner in the restaurant took over 2.5 hours with constant visits from our waitress telling us: "just a few more minutes for your food". There were (and likely will be, if you stay on a weekend) two weddings on site. The noise from other rooms in the night was horrible. Upon checkout, the reception staff didn't even ask how our stay was. After prompting them to ask about our stay, they suggested the wedding was to blame and didn't offer any compensation or apology. I don't usually write on these hotel review sites, but this experience had to be shared.

Yes the place is a bit old and tired but the location and service is outstanding. My group went there for a conference and we were very well looked after. The pub staff, food and all around service was excellent. We will go back !

We stayed here one night in a thunderstorm when we could
Not reach our destination. We were warned that the cabins were rustic but rundown is the term I would use. It was $99.00 for one night for a two room cabin. I slept in my sleeping bag as I did not want to sleep on the bedding, and thought we could have done better in a b&b or motel. I am not sure what the rooms at the lodges are like as we did not check them out, but the lodges are new and looked nice
We had dinner at their restuarant at the beach and it was lovely. We both had the bouillabaisse which was perfect for a raining night. It was tasty, the broth delicate and well balanced. So with a dinner roll it was enough as I was not really hungry, but if you are hungry it would not be enough. It was also $29.00 which I thought was a lot. The staff was attentive and helpful and the view beautiful even in the rain. So with a glass of wine each, that the waiter was very helpful in selecting for our dinner, the bill with tip and tax was close to $100.00! A lot I think.
I would go back and stay in a lodge as they have a lovely beach and would eat in the restuarant again but not as a last minute crunch. We both love love love prince Edward county and visit a few times a year.

High price, poor quality, bad service. That is our experience there. Our room was disgusting: Old, dirty, mold in the bathroom, toilet leaking. Wifi was not working either. When we told them that, they could not have care less. We asked for a discount and got told that this was not possible, we where paying for the location, etc.

Our company had 100 staff meeting off site in september. This conference accomodation, restaurant service and staff collaboration was excellent. Free ice to the guest had to be asked for at the front desk that was staffed by 1 person who was answering phones, checkinh in folks, checking out other. Couldnhave had more front desk staff. The setting is very nice along the west lake shore and the room met our expected standard.

Stayed in Beach House 1 - Room 704
- Positives: free ice, free provincial park pass, great view of lake, great heating/fireplace and cooling (ac), Great Deck, Great Propane BBQ, Nice Parking, Close to restaurant, great bathrooms, great swimming pool, spacious grounds, Bomb Fires via Fire Pit, Picnic tables, plastic charis for beach, watersports rental close by.

- Negatives: Beach is rocky/shells, carpet too rugged, some small spider webs, fake plants need dusting, light fixtures need to be cleaned, pillows too soft, TVs need upgrading to LCDs, swiming pool change rooms/bathrooms are super old school.

Room Tip: Stay in Beach House 1 - Everyone who I talked to was displeased about the other rooms.
