I stayed in this hotel this past weekend for one night with my wife and my parents. We were in a 2 bedroom suite. We arrived after the front desk had closed at 8pm, but there were clear instructions with a phone number to call and I got an answer immediately with instructions on how to get the lockbox open where I found an envelope with my name on it and our room key. I didn't expect the reception to close at 8pm but their system worked fine and we probably had a room faster than if there had been someone at the reception desk.
The hotel has a very rustic feel to it, but it's fairly nice. It may be a little dated in some areas but we got a great deal on expedia for the night and with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms it was the perfect choice for our group. The beds were comfortable, as were the pillows. The bathrooms were clean and had decent products. The view of the bay was nice as well. There's a jacuzzi on the balcony that seems like a cool idea but I'm not sure I would ever use it. I sort of felt like the balcony would give out on us if I added the weight of a filled tub to it.
My main problem with the place was the carpet. It looked pretty old and dirty looking. None of us were taking out shoes off at any point. I think they definitely need to change the carpets. I wouldn't want kids rolling around on it ever. Another issue I could see for some people is the fact that when you walk into the suite, you're greeted by a set of ten or so stairs. It wasn't a problem for any of us, but for someone with bad knees or an issue with stairs I could see it being an problem. With the reception not being open as well, we couldn't have asked for a different room on the main level even if we wanted to. I wonder if all the suites have stairs to get to the main area. Lastly, I will mention the kitchen. Yes there is a kitchen but I'm not sure how functional it would be if you were to rely on the pots and pans provided. There was only one pot and it was very small. Basically it would have been for a sauce or small soup. Trying to make pasta or a bigger meal would have been impossible. Once again, it wasn't a problem for us because we didn't cook that night, but for anyone thinking they will be doing some cooking, you might want to bring your own cookware or make sure you request some larger ones for the room.
I think this hotel could use some TLC but it was good value for us and it was just a place to sleep one night. I don't know if I would enjoy being there for an extended stay.
