“Amazing...any time of year.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2011

We got a deal on our room through Groupon (it would have been unbearably expensive otherwise) and it turned out to be one of the best mini vacations my husband and I have ever had. Our room was very spacious with a full kitchen and living room, separate bedroom and very large bath. We had full wall windows in the living room and bedroom looking out on the ocean. Our room was still secluded. There was no way for people to walk in between us and our view to be able to see the room, so it was very comfortable. We weren't there during whale season, but just the view and watching the weather roll in from offshore was enough to keep us happy.

There are large slate tiled floors in the kitchen and I accidentally knocked the coffee pot on to there floor where it shattered of course. I told the front desk about it as we were leaving for the day and upon our return a couple hours later they had cleaned the floor and replaced the coffee pot. They never even spoke of charging me for it and they didn't. I thought it was a demonstration of their great customer service. Also, we were never bothered by maid service. It's like she knew when we were in our room and would wait until we left. It was really nice not to be bothered even when we forgot to put up the "do not disturb" sign.

The most beautiful location. Expensive even with a Groupon, but you just have to splurge sometimes. Amazing weekend overall.

This was such an amazing holiday for us. We had fine dining, hiked trails and saw beautiful views, enjoyed a first class spa and got to meet some really friendly happy locals. I would highly recommend a stay for anyone but especially if you really need to get away from it all and take a break and recharge.
We will be planning on going back with the whole family to this amazing place.

We have never been to this part of Vancouver Island and it was beyond beautiful. The rugged coast line and old growth forest is worth the visit. With the resort placed right on the rocks you are blessed with the sound and beauty of the crashing waves at your door step. The room was decorated with a traditional, but modern sytle that felt very comfortable and cozy. It was a perfect romantic getaway. There are trails right outside the resort to go walking and the food was beyond amazing with amazing views at the dining room. We will be coming back for years to come.

Room Tip: Ask for an Ocean Side Room - Worth the cost.

We were married at the Black Rock on October 26 2011. The entire experience was so magical and amazing. Katherine and Natalie are in charge of the events at the resort and made the whole day so wonderful and flawless. We came in with high expectations for what we wanted for the 'perfect day', and I really feel that the staff and the resort made it that for us. We had quite a few guests with celiacs disease, so the chef made the entire menu gluten free to accommodate us. The food was out of this world and I know that my new husband made time to grab seconds. The staff that helped out with the wedding, from the front desk with all the reservations, to the bartenders and servers for the day of, and everyone else at the hotel was so lovely and cheerful at all times. I would like to apologize again for the trail of sparkles left behind from my shoes, and everyone who had to clean them up! I absolutely adore the Black Rock, and would recommend this beautiful place in a heartbeat to anyone who is thinking of having a West Coast Wedding, or even just as a place to stay. We know that we will definitely be back soon, and most of the guests that we had at the wedding are talking about a return trip too! Ps- Katherine and Shelly, we miss you guys already!

Room Tip: Every room is a great room!! Whether you face the ocean or the forrest, the view will be spectacular...

My husband, dog and I just returned from our third stay at this resort and again the whole experience was awsome! When we arrived in the afternoon of Oct.17th we were greeted by Humpback whales playing just off the resort, which we watched from our suite!!Again this time of year the weather was warm and sunny ,we did get one stormy day, which is never a negative on the west coast.Sitting on the deck listening to the eagles talk to each other is something everyone should hear and it was an everyday treat at the resort!Staff was pleasant as always along with the wonderful girls that cleaned our rooms!I can say we will be returing for trip number four!

Room Tip: Beach suites are the best!!

We’re just back from a wonderful weekend retreat at the Black Rock Oceanfront Resort feeling rejuvenated and revived after only a 3 day escape. Located in at a spectacular spot at the edge of the water overlooking the wild and beautiful Pacific Ocean, Black Rock provides luxury modern conveniences whilst nestled in the middle of nature. The cabins provides all the benefits of a secluded self-contained hideaway with a large patio and broad windows providing amazing views of the vast ocean and you can be lulled to sleep in an ultra-comfortable king-sized bed with the sound of waves beating against the shore. All this privacy, yet you have all the benefits of a full service hotel. The suite is very well furnished with relaxing contemporary furniture, flat-screen wall mounted TVs, DVD players, iPod docks, gas fireplace, a full kitchen, and an amazing bathroom with a large shower (featuring a rainhead and hand-held shower), an incredible soaker tub, heated tile floors and a vessel sink.

If/when you’re ready to venture out and socialize there are a variety activities you can partake in from enjoying the spectacular views while hiking along the Wild Pacific Trail, visiting the famous beaches of the region to more active pursuits like surfing! The towns of Ucluelet and Tofino also provide great restaurants and places to visit.

This was an exceptional way to spend a romantic getaway, we loved it so much, we’re headed back for another dose of heaven.

Room Tip: I stayed in 1501, a lower level, one bedroom suite right by the water's edge - it was fantastic...

My partner and I visited Black Rock Oceanfront Resort earlier this year to escape the city for some peace and quiet.

After checking in we were whisked away to our roomy suite, complete with a sprawling patio and endless views over the Pacific Ocean. The Wild Pacific Trail, connecting Ucluelet to Tofino, criss-crosses right in front of the hotel, allowing guests easy access to the rugged shore and sweeping views. Diners in the restaurant or tapas/cocktail bar are also treated to the view while sipping or nibbling on one of Black Rock's incredible culinary offerings.

Our room was decked out with modern furniture and cozy accents such as a gas fireplace and heavy duvet on the bed. A full-sized kitchen ensured that we could simultaneously bake cookies and uncork some local wine. The bathroom was unbelievable with a rainhead shower, gargantuan soaker tub and his n' hers sinks.

The suite's pièce de résistance was no doubt the bedroom. Anchored with a king-sized bed, the floor-to-ceiling windows offered unobstructed views of the rolling ocean waves while the crashing shoreline provided a perfect lullaby for incredible slumber.

While the prices may be a bit steep for some, Black Rock Oceanfront Resort also offers great package deals, so keep your eyes peeled. Regardless, it's well worth every penny spent!
