We were drawn to watching the BC Ferries and Horseshoe Bay is one of the launching places. We found ourselves there around lunch time on a beautiful weekday in mid-September. It was a little cool with breezes off the water and the sun behind the hills of this little community that must see 'way more than its share of transient tourists, to and fro'-ing from Vancouver (city) to Vancouver Island. There is a lineup of eating places offering something for those who are coming or going via the ferry. Olive & Anchor caught the eye with really beautiful, elegant decor and a reading menu easily accessible from the street. We were surprised by the delivery of the sandwiches, a cod po-boy and a basil chicken...presentation was of the sort that we expect at high end dinner places! The food was fresh, the combinations were new and surprising. We were charmed by a wait staff that seamlessly brought beverages, food, inquired about our satisfaction, checks and so on in a way that pointed out that all the staff tended to us in a warm, speedy and competent manner. We wish we lived closer and could visit again. I'd make this the place you dine before or after the ferries and ...even residents can enjoy this and the beautiful views of the Bay.
