“Elegant Atmosphere and Delicious European Cuisine”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2014

If you're looking for delicious, satisfying German-style cuisine surrounded by a bit of old-world elegance, do try Elisabeth's Chalet! This has been our family's go-to place for a special meal in this area since my Dad discovered it over 10 years ago. My parents are from Germany and Mum cooks like an angel, but for a break from the kitchen and a lovely atmosphere, we are always impressed with how well our selections are prepared, and are served with professional attention. We live elsewhere now, but are always sure to make a point of planning a visit to Elisabeth's whenever we're nearby. The goulash is hearty and flavorful, the schnitzel light and crisp, the creamy soups spiced just right, and Mum's favorite, Oysters Rockefeller, is always generously portioned and oh so yummy! And the house wines are from nearby Chaberton Winery, which we absolutely love! We feel the prices fairly reflect what is offered, and gladly plan our budget around our visits to Elisabeth's! Guten Appetit, ihr Lieben Leute!!

“out of the way elegance”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2014

Elizabeth's is run by a wonderful couple. It is a warm and cozy environment. This is where I took my new bride on our first date and therefore is very memorable. We both had the Steelhead trout which was fantastic, but there are plenty of choices to be had. The Schnitzel is a great choice as well. The dessert tray makes you gain weight just looking at it. The service was quick and friendly. Give it a try, you will not be disappointed, I know we will return, over and over.

“Great Friendly Restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2014

Had supper there last night for a friend's birthday. The restaurant is lovely, quaint and quiet. Our party made the most noise. The food, wine, and desserts were excellent. The owner greeted everyone at the door and the service was great. The birthday girl got a candle on her dessert and they sang happy birthday to her. The owner gave her a posy of roses. Good value for the money.

“Fantastic Schnitzel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2014 via mobile

We have been going here for lunch forever and just went for dinner last week for the first time in a long time. All of the schnitzel dishes are huge. I loved the schnitzel Madagascar which is veal covered in mushrooms and peppercorns in a burgundy sauce. You don't need an appetizer if you order one of these dishes - just have some fresh baked bread and sit back and enjoy the meal that comes with potatoes and a variety of vegetables.

“Elizabeth's Chalet in Surrey BC”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2014

We visited on a Wednesday night with an advance reservation. We arrived at 7 p.m. so we were not able to take advantage of the all inclusive menu (about $25) which is for patrons ordering before 6:30 p.m.. They do accept Groupon coupons.

The reception was warm and welcoming. The two person wait staff we courteous, friendly and very efficient. A basket of bread with both regular and garlic butter is put on the table as soon as the order is sent to the kitchen.

The two meals we had were Red Snapper ($18.95) and Moreno (or some name like that) Chicken with curry shrimp sauce ($19.95). Both the fish and the chicken were breaded, as I guess could be expected in a schnitzel house, only the steak was not breaded. Both our meals were tasty. The red snapper was better than the chicken as the chicken was just a tad dry for me, but not bad by any means. The curry shrimp sauce was very good, and very mild.. The house white wine was a bit sweet for my companion but she did not complain about the taste. We each had the simple salad ($5.75) which comes with the house dressing which was enjoyable.

They run out of their prime rib specialty towards the end of the evening. There were a couple of portions still available at 7:30 p.m. but we could not order it and still use our Groupon coupon. We would go again but would try and get there before 6:30 next time so we could have the all inclusive meal.
