When I land back in YVR we normally head straight to the Cactus Club Café. It reminds me of some of the things I love about this country. From the outside CCC looks chic - all warm woods and expanses of glass. Greeted at the door by members of staff who I am sure are picked for their customer service skills (the model good looks just being secondary) we're advised of any wait. Once escorted to our tables - we prefer the booths - we then just order from the starters menu and have a smorgasbord of tasty starters. Yam fries are a given, as is spicy calamari and chipotle aioli. Tuna tatiki is another favourite - all washed down with craft beer and margheritas. Service is impeccable - friendly and non intrusive - and they're quite happy to adapt the menu to individual dining preferences.
It's part of a chain - but in a good way. Food is consistent from location to location and it is cooked on premises - not reheated.
