“Served it's purpose”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2013

I will agree with what the last reviewer said. Rooms are a bit small, for two beds. "Breakfast" was adequate and the area it was in was small so it was taken back to our room. Location of this motel was why we booked it, and if needed, there is an ABC restaurant across the parking lot from it.
We had quite a time trying to cool down the room, even with the thermostat turned off for the duration of our stay and leaving the door open for several minutes. And it was not warm outside. A couple of times we came back to the room and found the the heat registers were warm! With the thermostat turned off!
The rooms are definitely not sound proof. Footsteps above us confirmed that the person in that room was training for a marathon. How could someone walk so much in such a small room? Conversations at normal levels in the rooms beside us were constant up until 11 pm and starting again about 7 am.
BTW, this motel is not in White Rock. It is in Surrey.

Room Tip: Get a room on the top floor and on the end. It should be a lot quieter.

Staff is very friendly. Good location. Clean rooms. But the size of the room is too tight for 2beds. We stayed in a 2beds rooms, which we felt too compressed. Special request made during reservation was attended, which is appreciated. Break fast is good, guests have to take out the food into the rooms which I preferred b'se of my 2yr old. No AC , During night room got too hot.
Recommend for a budget stay!

The reason to stay here is because you need to be in the area. There is a free breakfast included which makes the already reasonable room rate an even better deal. The place is clean, but older. The rooms are basic but have a small fridge and a good television, and a full bath. There is no air conditioning, but they do supply a small fan.

Room Tip: The rooms at the back of the motel may be a bit more quiet and make sure you ask for a non smoking r...

Located on a main route through White Rock, this was a reasonably priced overnight stay after a 13 hour drive, prior to going on to Vancouver Island. As we were to visit Richmond it was local enough for our purpose. The person at the desk for check in did not inspire confidence as he definitely was in need of a shower/shave and some clean clothes! We were directed to a room at the rear of the building on the 1st floor. It was clean, roomy enough with 2 double beds a TV & fridge. Would have been nice to have tea/coffee facility. The bathroom looks as though it may have been refurbished not too long ago and was in very good shape. As previously stated the "breakfast" was rather poor. Set out in a very narrow corridor with very limited selection. There is a nice garden area at the rear with tables/chairs which on a nice sunny, warm morning made for a relaxed place to sit and have our meagre "breakfast". We didn't have any issues with noise from next door rooms.

Room Tip: The rooms at the back overlook the "garden" and are nice and quiet.

Staff were friendly and accommodating. Rooms were small but clean. Walls are thin as we kept hearing someone cough from a neighbouring room. Breakfast: well, it is served in a narrow hallway so it is more pick-up and go. Limited choice, no fruit or yogurt. Coffee was good. Decided to go out for breakfast so we could sit down and eat.

We found the Breakaway through Trip Advisor and discovered a nice motel with clean, quiet rooms, welcoming staff in a convenient location.
There's nothing fancy here but there certainly is nothing wrong with a basic, comfortable motel, staffed by nice people, in a good location. The ABC restaurant across the parking lot serves good meals at a reasonable price so all in all I'd give the Breakaway a big "thumbs up".

We originally discovered The Breakaway through Trip Advisor and were not disappointed.
We wanted to spend several days in the White Rock area after a 7 day motorcycle trip across the country and found Willard and the staff at The Breakaway extremely friendly and helpful.
The motel rooms are quite basic but very clean and quiet. The beds were comfortable, the showers were good and there was a mini-fridge in the room.
The only complaint that could be made is that the "continental breakfast" offered as part of the price was the most basic we have ever encountered . This was off-set however by the presence of the ABC Restaurant less than 50 yards away across the parking lot.
The ABC, billed as a family-style restaurant, served excellent meals and openned for breakfast by 6:30 a.m. , and this is where we ate most of our meals, especially breakfasts.

Room Tip: The motel is set well back from King George Blvd, so the rooms at the front of the motel are almost...
